Preferred Barrel Blanks

Thank You !!
There's a link out there online to the company. I checked it out. Mostly looking for a buddy that wants a rem/age set up. He wants to use his factory stock but with the barrel nut set up, usually there is fitting needed. This company claims there proprietary barrel nut allows factory stocks with no inletting or fitment needed. Curious if they are accurate repeatable barrels and would like some reviews before recommending it to him.

If they are part of MGM I wouldn't hesitate. I've had an MGM for an Encore for over 10 years. Absolute tack driver. For the price I wouldn't hesitate to put one on a hunting gun or maybe even a PRS rifle. For f-class though I'll stick with the big name cut barrels.

Have had Shilen, Broughton, Krieger, Bartlien, McGowen, Brux, and Benchmark for barrels. Never had a bad one, just a couple that stood out a little better for the most part. Which may have been more about me getting a better load to barrel marriage then the barrel necessarily being better.

Competition between barrel makers is a big thing, just as it is for us the customers/users, and is why I feel we are blessed with some very great barrel makers and lot's of them to choose from !.!.!

Hope this company (Preferred) is one also, be good for all of us if they are, more mfg competition to quality and prices. Or so is the way I look at it.

I just put one of their prefit barrels on my Tika action 22-250 8 twist and have nothing bad to say about them. Bryce is a great service rep for them and the gun shoots great. I am in the process of ordering a carbon fiber barrel for my Bergara action. Has anyone purchased a carbon fiber barrel from them? Here is the 22-250 group I shot last weekend

Test Groups through Kreigers at 580 yds

All 3 are different chamberings, different barrel lengths, and different actions.
but very Similar results.
The binder paper line spacing is .340" for reference

I typically use Krieger barrels, but my order for one has a very long lead and am still waiting. In the meantime I got one of the Preferred Barrels SS drop-ins and just recently got it broke in and it seems to be shooting pretty well with the right loads:

The barrel looks nice for the most part, but its bore is not as good as I had hoped. I guess I was expecting to see what I'm accustom to with Krieger barrels. When Looking at Preferred Barrel's bore there's quite a few what appears to be scrapes along the surface of the rifling's, something like I see in some factory barrels. If it keeps shooting like the above, it doesn't matter, especially since I'll be getting my Krieger barrel in a few months. ;)

Why a carbon wrapped barrel? Other than being expensive, what do they bring to the table?

I have four of their barrels now, and each one has been just great. The way they mark the caliber and twist on the pre-fits allows you to see what it is, no matter how it lines up on placing it into your action.
The barrels are well done, in my opinion, and clean up very well and easy, with just some light to normal bore cleaning procedures.
Mine are all SS, with the satin finish. I have so far, one 22PPC, one 6.5 Grendel and two 6mm ARC's. the 22PPC is on a Howa mine, the others are on Savage actions.
I will be ordering more, as I am very pleased with Bryce, is handling my questions and taking care of the orders I have placed. Prices is good and service and time turnaround has been, so far, within 7 weeks, at the most, from the time I ordered.
That is my opinion and comments on Preferred Barrel Blanks and the pre-fits I have at this point in time.

I just spun on 2 Preferred Barrels on to a couple of Tikkas I have.
Headspaced just fine, but I haven't had a chance to fire them yet.

Reduced weight
If I were still hunting, that alone is what I'd choose for my hunting rifles. :D
You're better then. With no weight out front I start stirring the gravy. I personally need some weight out front. I never hunt in a situation that a light barrel does anything.
That's the World that we live in, difference of opinion.
