6BR 13.5 twist

My 13.5 twist bull barrel for my heavy gun is chambered for 6BR and 66 to 70 gr bullets. For the last 16 years it has been easy to find loads for and has produced scary small groups at 100 and 200 yards.

L Murphy,
Yes, I have a fair amount of experience with slow twist 6MM barrels. Chambered and rechamberd enough to learn a few things.

Naturally the slow twist is intended for lighter bullets and as everyone is aware, for the last 50 years or so no one has consistently bested the slow twist 6MM’s with regards to short range accuracy.

So, if you looking to assemble possibly the best varmint or steel shooting rifle for 300yd’s or so, then the evidence clearly suggest a slow twist 6MM in PPC, 6BR or any of their cousins.

In my experience I prefer the 6BR in a zero freebore configuration. No problem sizzling 55 - 70 bullets at high volocitys while shooting consistently tiny groups.

Like everything else the slow twist have their place and the fast twist have theirs, shot lots of both and vastly prefer the slow twist for varmints.

A muzzle brake on a slow twist with light bullets results in a varmint rifle that hardly moves when shot.....get to watch a lot more varmint gymnastics with a brake.

Not sure what answer your looking for..........hope this helps.

55g bullets- AA2230, Rem 7 1/2, Accuracy node at 3900 fps in my 27" Lilja-12T-zero freebore

55g, 60g-70g bullets- H335, Rem 7 1/2, really amazing accuracy

expect sub 1/4" groups with all these bullet weights. Accuracy node is at the top of the pressure curve
