Reusing components

I loaded up 11 bullets for load development with a new bullet when I realized the shoulders wasn’t pushed back far enough on the brass, so I pulled them all.

1. with the powder I can’t see any reason why not to reuse it?
2. I pushed out all the primers because I used hornady one shot spray can case lube and was worried I may have gotten lube down the case onto the primers so I’m very hesitant on reusing these? FYI cci br2 the scarce stuff lol
3. Bullets I pulled look okay but I mean for precision purposes especially when doing load development I’m very hesitant on reusing them?

just thought I’d reach out and ask the guys who knows better than I do for their opinions.

thank you I appreciate any & all feed back

I recently pulled a few rounds myself using a collet puller. I saved most of the bullets, which I will use only for foulers moving forward, but a few had pretty severe jacket marks - they got tossed. The primers were tossed as I use a hand de-priming tool and I really have no idea what it does to the primer anvil/interior during the de-capping process. Maybe they were "ok", but I'm not willing to find out. The powder went back into the 8 lb. jug that it originally came from. The brass will have the necks re-worked (bushing followed by mandrel), and be re-used as normal.

Depending on the individual and the intended use, you may get a wide range of responses to your query. There are not necessarily any wrong answers, but they will reflect the various opinions of the responders. Ultimately, you will still have to decide for yourself whether re-using a given component from a pulled round is acceptable for the intended purpose.

What do you mean the shoulders were not pushed back far enough? Can you easily close the bolt on them? If you can they don't need to be pushed farther back. When I pull bullets with aa collet puller I find that they are damaged and fall outside of the group. Just 11 loads I would have shot them if nothing else for foulders.

Some pulled bullets I recently shot were fine.

Use 'em in a match....you'll have a built in excuse for fliers and misses.... you "did your part" ... it was the bullets fault.

I reused Remington 7 1/2 primers that were decapped and had FTF with some of them. Will discard any decapped primers in the future as it is frustrating when testing for nodes or groups. I no longer use a collet bullet puller, An impact bullet remover rarely damages a tipped bullet. So I reuse bullets without worry, but I am a varmint shooter not a benchrest competitor.

If you want to see the durability of primers, take one and spray it with WD-40 or soak it in water over night. put it in a case and fire it..... I bet they go bang..
