Sierra bullets seconds

I have ran a bunch of 175 smk factory 2nds or blems. Most of mine were staining or dings in jacket. Minor things. I loaded them up had a honest .75 inch accuracy like 10 groups of 5 shots on same target shot the same at 600 yards. Then i sorted them into 3 batches by base to ogive. Looks like i had 3 lots of bullets. Had differences of .120 on base to ogive. Shot sorted bullets in batches they shot below .5 moa. They were cheap but i shot the 1000 i had up and just get the good ones now. Not worth my time to sort them into groups by base to ogive.

Anyone used them? My stepson lives just a couple minutes from Sierra Bullets so I had him pick up 4# of .22 caliber #1365's. Needless to say they aren't quiet what I was expecting. Honestly I didn't know what to expect. LOL
WOW! I am shocked Sierra would even let those out of their facility, let alone sell them! What are you supposed to do, take a pair of diagonals clip the front of the bullet off. Looks like a total waste of money to me - I feel bad for you.

Come on, guys! These little extrusions break off easily with fingers with hardly a noticeable trace. The rolled back collars just flick right off with little effort. Voila....good bullet. No kidding, I have fired at least 8K of the 140 gr. 7mm Pro Hunters shoveled from the black 30 gallon cans. Go through this simple clean up step and shoot them. You will not see a flyer in the bunch. It is far too expensive to clean up these bullets for sale as perfect bullets. I have seen those gals at the inspection and sorting tables tossing them into a reject bin. Then poured directly into the black barrels in the retail shop. All bullet manufacturers make reject and blem bullets. But, you wont see Larry at Midway selling them like pictured above. I wish I had 10K of them in my house right now.

Well I don't know bout anybody else but I'm pretty sure I see what looks like a lead flange where the lead meets the copper on about 1/3 of them.

I see a LOT of comments from folks that have never had their hands on them. They are seconds, thirds or whatever you want to whine and call them. GOOD don’t buy anymore of them, that will leave plenty for those of us that know better.
I have shot literally thousands upon thousands of these. Sure maybe I have to do a little work on cleaning them up with a pen knife.
Opinions are like elbows, everyone has a couple.

I'm going to pick through them and get what few I think I can use and toss the rest I guess.
I hope you're joking. Please.

Make a jig, a piece of 2x4, to file-trim the sprue off each tip. Should take about 3 seconds a piece.

The results will be more than sufficiently accurate for anything you were going to do with soft-points.

No need to make any tools. The offending parts are easily removed in a second with your fingers. You would need magnification to see where it was attached. On my last visit, not a 140 to be had.

Much of this debris falls off to the bottom of the box when dumped from the weight scale pan.

Here is a good deal on a trimmer kit, Ned. Strong fingernails work, too.:)

LOL, I have part of that kit left over from when I was a kid building model cars, many years ago..
