An afternoon of labor at the sawmill yielded these results. There are a couple of potential, future gunstock blanks in the mix, 10-15 benches, and/or table tops, along with 1’ thick lumber type stuff. Anyone want to guess what type of wood it is? The real work begins tomorrow stacking it in the shed to dry.
Edit- several have correctly identified the mystery wood as elm. It’s American Elm, specifically. The arborist that took it down said at 60’ tall with an 80’ spread, it was the largest and most dense American elm he has ever taken down in his 11+ years in the business. It had a double trunk with ground level cuts of 36” and nearly 40”. He also said it must have been near perfect growing conditions as it was only 55 years old.
