Rifle is a really nice stainless Remington 700 action, jewel trigger and a Krieger barrel chambered in 6x45. I got dies, brass, powder and primers and bullets with it but curious about load data and performance. Sad part is I cant shoot it because it's in a thumbhole stock, dang it!

I use this data almost exclusively for 6x45.
I was just comparing varget next to SWP
with 80gr bullets to come up with a starting point to work up from.

What twist rate? Here is a picture of my 6x45 Remington 700 with a 10 twist Pacnor barrel. I'm using 27.0 grains of IMR 8208XBR powder with 80 grain Sierra #1515 Biltz Varminters bullets and 80 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips bullets. Both shoot really well in the rifle.

Thanks for that link it has awesome info. I got powder with it and it's XMR-2015. I got a few loaded rounds that had 68gr Barts loaded with 26.1gr of something,... it's not XMR-2015 though? It came with some Berger 64gr column bullets as well.
I'm pretty sure he said it was a 12 twist Krieger. I know it's a really heavy barrel and appears to be a 24 inch. Will know more when I pick the gun up soon. Guy was shooting 64 to 70gr bullets.
I built one of these on a Savage BVSS single shot action and stock. Screwed a 1:8 twist 26" varmint contour X-Caliber barrel to it. The load data referenced in the earlier post is exhaustive and very useful. I first tried 80 grain Sierra varmint bullets and W748 powder and they would not expand on a prairie dog. Switched to some old (ancient - 1990's vintage) 65 grain Gentner boattail benchrest bullets with H335 and they would not expand at all. Both were accurate but zipped through a gallon milk jug full of water at 100 yards without expanding. Finally tried 69 grain Berger High BC flat base bullets and they blow up just like you want and are accurate. Unfortunately, Berger stopped making those, so I bought 1500 before they all disappeared and still use them. I shoot these bullets to 500 yards using H322. I only used Remington 7 1/2 primers. At 600 yards the accuracy drops significantly--the 69 grain flat base just poots out. Muzzle velocity in my rifle is ~3020 fps using the load data above. Great varmint round.

6-223/6x45/6TCU/6-223AI, never had one that was picky on what it was fed. H335 and 70-80 grain bullet will shoot in them more times than not. It will perform over what you would think.
Drum banging going on with the 6ARC with heavies, the 6-223 sees little from the masses. Though I will say I am happy to see a mild smaller than 243WW 6mm cartridge a available over the counter.

I'm kinda excited about it, something different that nobody around here has. I found data in my Berger book but nothing in the Hornady or new Sierra manual. I thiink with that file that Bc'z linked in will of great help.
Hodgdons data center also has the 6x45 for a number of bullet sizes and of course their powders.
I built one this year with a 10 Twist barrel and 22 inches on a Howa 1500 action. I built primarily it to use up all the left over custom benchrest 65-68gr. bullets and odd lots of N133 and pull down 8208 powder I have accumulated. It is easily a 1/2 moa gun with those combinations.
My last range session was with Hornady 90 gr eld-x and I was very pleased with .66 avg 5 shot groups with 2 different powders. I will re-test these soon, might be my hunting load.

If you look in your new Sierra load manual under legacy cartridges you will find it there. Also Hodgdon website has it under 6MM-223
Thanks I will look there. I did find data on line as well but when starting with a new (to me) cartridge it's nice to have known loads as starting points.

reddog & firefox, Thank you for the replies...As i mentioned, this is a 16.5" barrel so i have the option of using it as a pistol or carbine, I will for now be using as a carbine as it will be lightweight and easy to manage while carrying...Im not interested in "hot" loads,, im looking for...
