Bonkers pricing at Gunshow

We usually have the same vendors at our shows. I make a mental note of the opportunists and make a point not to stop at their tables in future shows. The vendors that strike me as honest are the ones where I spend money with.

I wish they would finally get tired of buying this stuff and get stuck with it
I laughed long and hard when Costco posted notices that they would not accept returns of ANY paper goods (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, etc.) during the early days of the Chinese flu pandemic. I know a few folks who thought they were going to make a fortune and now have a lifetime supply of toilet paper. :p:D:p:D

we have a small gunshow here and I usually find a few good deals course I'm usually looking for junk or parts . I bought a dozen picatinny rails for a dollar each and a bottle of AA#9 for 15.00. last time.

I have never found gun shows worth the time the time to go. I understand that some guns are collectable and will go up in value, but most are just used guns, i will never understand how some dealers sell used guns for more than new prices.

I had a good friend call me Saturday wanting to go to the next gun show here in Ft. Worth. I asked what he was looking for, he said a pump shot gun, riot style. I said I wouldn't waste my time at a gun show and that he would get raped price wise. I told him I have an extra one with ammo I would sell him. That made his day.

I really have no problems with gun show vendors doing the best they can to make money. The buyers dictate the action for the most part. I enjoy gun shows and score a few deals here and there.

I went to a small show in Port Arthur today. There appeared to be plenty of ammo there if you wanted to pay the price.
12 ga 5 round box of buckshot .....$25
20 round box of 6.5 grendel............$85
20 round box of 6 CM.........................$60
20 round box Federal basic grade 7 Mag....$55

That is just wrong. People need to calm down and wait for this to pass. Let the profiteers die with their high priced stuff!!!

I have some fun at these shows. I don't go to many and rarely buy something so I may as well have fun.
Today I inspected a .22 auto labeled as a Remington. The barrel was stamped JC Higgins and was a Savage/Stevens design. I asked the guy when where it is stamped Remington and when did Remington make JC Higgins for Sears.
Next stop was a Pre-64 Win Mod 70 PUSH FEED XTR in 30-06.
Model 12 Winchester Trap gun. Plain barrel 26" long with a Polychoke and a field stock. I suppose you could shoot trap with it. I spent 30 years on the trap lines all over the country and never saw one like this in registered competition.
You question these guys and they either crawfish or want to argue with you.

New Braunfels, TX. Smallish venue, as full of tables/vendors as the socialist distancing mandates will permit. Line to get in, everybody polite and orderly, and not a whole lot of buying. Masks don't cover raised eyebrows though, and I saw plenty, and my own almost cramped up (need to drink more water I guess?).

50-round boxes of plinking-grade .45 ACP: $90
5-round boxes of 12 ga 00 buckshot: $25
20-round boxes of PPU brand .308 Win: $75
100-round boxes of CCI .22 LR 'Mini-Mags': $20
500-rounds of TULA .223: $650 (and I heard a passerby say "If I had the money, I would buy that.")

I may have scored the best bargain of the show when my discerning gaze landed on 7 boxes of Winchester 'Super X' .22 WMR, circa 1980s. Total of 350 rounds, for $60.

These are disturbing times.
there have been some around here - i havent gone because of covid, but ive wanted to go see whats happening and sell a few things for rediculous $--thought of getting a few tables and seeing if i can sell a few safe queens .

I feel the same way. I’ve been doing this since I was 15 years old in late 80's a lot of guy’s own gun shops and sit all weekend trying to make ends meet. They are not getting rich. I usually go for powder, primers, bullets, shotgun reloading and parts. They know me, they know I have boys that are avid shooters. Bench rest, prairie dogs, shotgun and now hand gun. They’ve treated me good. And treated my sons good. I also reload for my dad. Shooting sports has always been big part of our lives. I’m almost 50 and oldest boy will be 30. I’m starting my 5 year old grandson on 22 this summer looking forward to a few gun shows
