Let's see the stock.
Look at spray max products for primers and clears.
Some automotive paint jobbers can put what ever color of base coat in a can.
If your local jobber dosen't, mine does and will ship to you, or I can have it done myself and ship to you.
Just last week I shipped a respirator to another member cheaper than Amazon.
I've been wanting to do a how too with spraymax aerosols but have been super busy. My apologies I'm more than willing to walk you through the steps.

Start with 80grit and blocks, I use lexan and acrylic sticks. And something round 4-5" long for radius and barrel channel.
After 80 grit switch to 150-180 grit. Stock will be pretty straight at this point.
Prime with spraymax 2k primer let dry a coupl days, then block with your 150/180 grit. Reprime with more 2k.

I've got a wood stock I'm going to rattle can soon, too.
Brett, it's getting that Tiffany Blue I was talking to you about. I may see if my local job shop is open and get auto paint in cans rather than the Rustoleum rattle cans I have.

Just say no to rustoleum. I’ve used tons of Spraymax. Brett already got you started on prep. Use the body filler/glaze of your choice. For wood stocks that get painted, I’ve used cheap 3m glaze putty carded on hard and thin to fill the pores.

All 2k products will last multiple days if refrigerated after you pop the seal. So, you can lay down a primer coat, put it in the fridge- come back the next day and use it again after bringing it up to temp. Same with clear.
You’ll need more clear then you think because you’ll need to sand n buff the last coat instead of being able to flow coat. You’ll get 2 good coats out of each can.

Sounds good. If I order the paint on line it will be here in about 5 days.
I should have the sanding done by then.
I was thinking after the primer I might like to paint the stock like a silver then maybe mist the top of it with a black and a hint of silver metalflake followed up with clear for durability. What are your thoughts? I'm way open to suggestions.

Spray stock black 1st, let sit a couple hours with good airflow.
Next take saran wrap and lay flat and spray it silver. Wrap stock with wet saran wrap rub it down but dont worry about air pockets.

You'll need 2k primer for smoothing surface and prep for painting. Black for ground coat.
You'll need to contact jobber for silver base coat loaded in spraymax can with "SLOW" reducer. Also they can load any transparent tint base to use as a candy coat.

I think I'm going to try that saran wrap thing with some camo paints. I got all inspired with your work Bc'z
and started on this some time back. Was actually doing it for my wife who had just been diagnosed with cancer. ER visits, chemo, and radiation treatments took the joy out of it and six weeks ago she passed on. Looking at this, I feel an inspiration returning and look forward to finishing. She is no longer here on earth but watches over me and that purple is still her favorite color. Thanks guys for the needed motivation.
