Tough Times

9/8 isn't bad but the rest are indeed very difficult times! I do okay with 5/4 (Mars, Take 5, MI Theme), 9/4 (Time for a Change) but it takes a lot more concentration.....
i had enough time with 7/8 but i got it.. my fave 7/8 tune is

i used to play the bass.. i don't anymore.. i still have it.. but i would like to sell it

I play lead trumpet in a big band that plays classic swing era stuff--Basie, Ellington, etc. Some of the charts are quite demanding. The bass is key. If the bass misses the whole band loses time. Most people think it's the drummer that is the primary time keeper, buts it's really the bass.

In other bands I have played this tune. It's in 9/4. 1-2, 3-4, 5-6-7, 8-9. Its long but worth it.
