Help with caliber choice

Hey fellas,

I stumbled across a deal on a Curtis vector that I couldn’t pass up! I currently have a 260. Rem and a 6mm creed. It’s a 308 bolt face and can’t decide what to do with this one.

this rifles intended purpose will most likely be target as I can’t Hunt any big game with a rifle in my area so it’s limited to coyotes or target. I currently shoot a mid weight 20 tac for coyotes, and 6mm creed for the longer set ups.

was thinking maybe 25 creed but open for opinions. Shoots will be out too 1100 but no further

I also don’t mind ordering a mag bolt to do something different?

6br or 6dasher stay away from the 25's just not that many bullet selections. But with the 6mm's well there is a bunch. I think you would like the dasher but the br just a Lot less work. Imo too get the best results get a fast twist. Another good choice you might look a fast twist 22/250 or 22/250ai. All of these choices are scary accurate. I have 1-8 twist on my 6br and 6 dashers. Others may ring in with better twist. Hope your build goes well

I don’t have one yet but another possibility is a 22Creed which has a lot of bullet choices as opposed to the 25 Creed. @shoot4fun seems to really like his 22Creed.

Haha wow the 6br has some serious following lol. Never even crossed my mind since I already have a 6mm. Why would I want the 6br too?

I was thinking 25 creed with the 131’s
Because it’s soooo easy and accurate!
How’s about a boomer? 300 WSM? (How old are you? In good shape? Strong shoulders?);)

Don't go with a BR variant. It'll ruin all other cartridges for you. Seriously. You don't have any clue just how well it does what it does. 6BR, 22BR, 6 Dasher, 6 BRX. Any of them. They will show less vertical dispersion at distance, they will be way easier to tune, they will have smaller ES and SD numbers, they require less powder... I could go on.

Look at a 6XC. Pretty good ballistics, not too much recoil or powder burn, and pretty darn' accurate also. Keeps from having to buy so many different calibers of bullets too.

Well, actually, it's my buddy's 22 Creedmoor. Weighing in on what to do with a Vector action? Well mine has a 7 twist Hawk Hill in 6 Dasher on it and I love it. I'm starting to work on the 110 A-Tips in it and it seems to be liking them. Great thing about the Vector is the ease of barrel swapping so you can have more than one choice and be happy.

I was going to suggest 7mm/08, buy I agree there is something about the 6br. Look at that tiny little cartridge and say 1000yards? No problem! The smith I bought it from told me “105 Bergers and Varget” and I was shooting little tiny groups!

Since you already have a 6mm id say 284 win or shehane, they are both phenomenal for targets at 1k+ with bergwr hybrid target 180s.

I can’t believe the br guys! It never even crossed my mind. Especially with the 6 creed in the line up already. I’m pushing the 105’s at 3130 FPS with a sd of 7 so I’m pretty happy with it. I’m worried with running a br to run into the feeding problems that go with it and that it won’t benefit me in any way over my 6 creed. That’s why I was looking for something a bit different. I will most likely chamber more then 1 barrel but I was looking to start with 1 to try the Curtis out

I don’t want to be running a single shot as id like to be pushing the 215’s. Shot a 300. Wsm for years in a 8.5lbs rifle. My planned next build was suppose to be on a tikka for wsm and saum builds but just couldn’t pass up on the Curtis
