A convergence of hobbies

Funny how at this time of year this subject has come up on every forum I read.

Bass fishing was my passion. Shooting ARA & steel challenge was next.

Then I unexpectedly moved 650 miles and started over.
ARA was the only one that didn't change. There I met guys shooting CF bench rest and saw it was big and growing.
I jumped in neck freakin deep !

I also make signs for ppl.

My pistols, gear & reloading supplies just take up space now.

My bass boat sits allot ...just don't have the drive nor the know how to fish these deep waters with not much cover ....

Sure seems that the rest of the country is getting into winter hibernation mode and doing other things, but I'm in short sleeves and shorts with the sun shining and a high of 77° today! I took the weekend off from shooting because the kids went to stay with grandma, so my sweetie and I get to spend some time together!

Another hobby of mine is to just tinker with things. I restore vintage cameras, record players, pretty much anything.

Used to like playing with my two '69 Mustangs but as an old fart it's less work playing with guns.

<------ That little urchin that ya see right there, has become my newest and biggest hobby lately. I get to share my other hobbies with her, and the reward is beyond measure.

Also, for the last year or so, I've decided to become more personal with Jesus. Always been a believer, but want to take it to the next and final level. Started with a weekly Bible study, and has progressed to a living force in my life. I highly recommend it for anyone who lives on this crazy-assed earth of ours.

I'm a working stiff, so my free hours are rare enough, and some of them simply get spent doing little or nuthin. I think balance is important. jd

Working on and restoring just about anything mechanical. I love taking a rusty pile of whatever and making it useful again.

Just bought my third lathe, a South Bend Heavy 10 that the guy bought brand new in 1975 and said he put maybe 200 hours on it. I doubt it was used even that much.

Then there's my mistress, a 1961 Panhead that's my RTT ('round the town) bike.

And a Gibson Les Paul and Marshall amp where I try to play (for example) Crazy Train like Randy Rhodes. Not much luck with that one!

I have spent two or three retirements photography, drag racing, had a 69 shelby mustang (all stock), a 66 fairlane 427, 68 mustang fb build by ford for Bob Glidden and the odo read 428, rail car, Dirt track racing, motocross, radio control flying, golf, more golf, and now competitive shooting, and there is more, so make that 5 or 6 retirements. ;-)

Nice Trawler, what’s She Draft?

LOD = 45
LOA = 50
Beam = 14'-10"
Draft = ~4'10"

I am a live aboard so she probably rides a good 4"-6" lower. She is well equipped. The first owner probably paid for her twice based on the equipment he added the year he purchased here. I have much of the documentation. Cruises real nice. Use to spend a lot of time cruising the San Juan Islands in the PNW.

I too love drag racing. Especially bikes. But the NHRA does not allow top fuel bikes to drag against the twins. The nitro Harley's are a fair bit slower so I suppose it wouldn't be fair.
:D

Spiderman's official record is 5.60. however, recently during practice he went deeper... 5.50 @ 264
:eek:

I also love the Isle of Man TT and other road races like Ulster GP, North West 200 etc... Them racers have the biggest balls knowing they can die (and many die often) and still choose to race.

MotoGP and World Superbikes are ok, but boring compared to the real road racing circuits.

I started drag racing with my 1966 Chevelle 396 SS, then went to dirt oval in pure stock class, then into sportsman class. From there into modified class with a Troyer Mud Bus 458. Now at 73 I sure miss it all.like 200 mph on the tri oval track. Pure adrenaline rush.
