Where's the Varget?

Lost quite a few that day, me and brett. Damn shame is what it was we lost some nice stuff. Moonshine is a helluva drug.
Son, moonshine ain't a drug - it's an elixir that allows you to see the future, the past and present - all at one time. Then beating the sh&t out of it while climbing a flagpole naked and insulting a 320 lb. power lifter by calling him no nuts.
To call it a drug is heresy. Tequila, now there is a drug.:D

Find a dealer with an account with Williams Shooters Supply Quincy,IL, there showing 6 ,8 pounders at $178.00 each. This is a wholesale business only, must have an account.
I have an account and just checked, they are out of stock as well.

Fortunately Varget is not my main go to powder and I do have a few pounds of it. My primary powder is RL17 and I've got 15 pounds of it.

I saw this thread last night and remembered that my local gun shop had an 8 lb jug on the bottom shelf. Went there this morning and grabbed it. After I paid him, I told him about the shortage. He tried to order more but it was out of stock. I don't use a lot of it so this will last me until a new lot comes out.

Good grab, Nick!

Well I just discovered that my Remington 700, 22-250 loves the stuff so I had to make sure I have it in stock.

By the way, I just received all the metal work for the stock. I couldn't change the order for the trigger in time before it was shipped, so it has a safety and bolt release.

N140 is subjectively better in my experience. I use Varget in competition because that's what everyone else uses and it's easier to talk numbers. It's definitely a cleaner powder.

Most of mine is sitting under projectiles nestled snugly in their cases waiting to take flight toward antelope, deer and elk. I'm happy fall is here.

Might have to go root up some more if its going to be 6-12 months of drought again.

RL15 works just as well for similar velocities, but does not deliver the same accuracy in my rifle.

Just trying to clarify LVLAaron's statement, where it wasn't completely clear which of the two powders he meant was cleaner. I've seen/heard it stated often that N140 burns much cleaner than Varget and I personally know several people I trust that have made similar comments.

In fairness, I haven't used N140 myself, hence the word, "reputed". Although I intend to try N140 in the very near future, I have always used Varget and H4895 in .223 Rem and .308 Win. Frankly, I can't imagine that any powder could be much dirtier than either of them ;).
