Are we going to be able to see what kind of groups and scores there were. The point system only shows us who won but nothing else.

The groups and scores were nothing to write home about, there may have been a few good one's like Jay Burger and Mike Glantz they were 4 and 5 inch 100 scores.
But when I shot a 2" high 17'' group I kind of said good luck to everyone that won there relays. Don't understand how the point system works to be honest with you but form what I see it needs work.

I see the difference, the old way rewarded those who shot good on good relays and benches. The points system rewarded those that shot good on bad relays and benches. It still comes down to barrels and bullets...... jim

I had one good light gun target with a group of 4.540 and score of 98 with a Dasher. I am like you Joe don't understand how the point system works. Had a great time !! CONGRATULATIONS to the winner from the Deep South "MISSISSIPPI"

Yep and if someone shoots really bad in a bad relay your rewarded even more like I believe I was!
So I say try something different like more targets.

It was a new points system, be patient and it will be eventually..

3 LG and 3 HG while utilizing 15 benches.. Hard to luck out with 6 good relays.

Not sure if Williamsport is the same but the points system used at Deep Creek for the championship match works but giving you a point for your placement in your relay. For example if you placed first in group and 3rd in score you would get 4 points. The idea is to have the least amount of points at the end of the shoot. So you are really only shooting against the shooters in your relay.

Werner, he is absolutely correct.. If you have guys that shoot like $h!t in your relay you get points not because you deserve to win the match anymore than the next guy that got points..

I agree, the regular matches end in a shootoff with all the relay winners. Why change that format for your once a year showcase? Makes no sense to me. At the end, having a shootoff would be the climax to a great weekend of shooting . Given the amount of work some folks put in to make this a great weekend, a shootoff of the relay winners would be exciting.

And you think that three targets and two shoot off will take place in one day! That's a joke, not enough time in a day. It would have to be none stop no lunch break!
I still say have it three days, two targets each day two shoot off's ! And don't say I can't get that many days off. Retire and shoot the world is going to end in 12 years anyhow. LMFAO

Ray, 3 target agg. each instead of two. but the scoring system sure negates the " computer draw" system. and that is good thing for us that draw targets 11 and 12 all day year after year.... jim

Nobody likes change, I think what Alex mentioned is awesome. After all, the main objective is to have the smallest group centered in the target, it just makes sense with what they are doing for a scoring system

the World Open is a match itself right...no other points involved 2 days of shooting right..who ever comes... shoots the best wins right..
