Seems like anybody could afford a dollar a month or 12 dollars a year and if half the members the site has now or 23,000 paid that it would pay the site 276,000.00 annually. That’s a lot more than the site gets out of the 3.4% that pay now.

I completely agree we definitely need a platinum membership. One of the things I enjoy about the current gold membership is if I sell an item to a member that has the gold banner I will ship immediately before payment arrives. To me if a guy is willing to pay the gold membership fee I'm willing to honor anything he says he will do.

Sadly, this is probably indicative of gun owner support of organizations such as NRA and the other major backers of our 2A rights.

PLEASE everybody get with the program. It starts here with a very reasonable membership upgrade, and is needed in all aspects of our gun owning -- sport, hobby, passion, - whatever you want to call what we do. It's time to stop taking it for granted and start paying the bill.

Our freedom doesn't come free. jd
 
Playing the devil here and some will remember this sermon from similar threads. Let's take a person who no longer shoots. They may have participated in any of the various match disciplines, reloaded or hunted for many years. Now, they have health issues that have rendered them watching every nickel but they belong to share their knowledge. I agree 3.4% is a small number but my point is let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. There are more than a few that don't contribute monetarily but in other useful ways.

We now return you to our regular programming.

I agree on the hardships of some but the other 90% could cough up $20 bucks for sure?

Hog I agree with you in part....
Just this weekend I was checking out the classifieds and noticed HIGH ticket items listed by members who've been a member for quite some time. Yet are not contributing
monetarily for the site or with valuable knowledge for the benefit of other shooters.
Personally I haven't started a thread offering my services as a painter with a detailed price schedule for the simple fact I can't afford to pay for "site sponsorship", even though I get unlimited posts in classifieds, as it wouldn't be right or fair to the folks who are sponsoring.
Back to the @Forum Boss considering a certain level of site support for classifieds especially of high ticket items as he discussed about a week ago.
Seems to me it would curb a lil bit of freeloading and generate some revenue.
 
I've held "Gold" member status previously and it has run out. - I will renew When I am ready to. - I have sold a few "take-off" barrels and have purchased nothing to date. - When I joined this forum in early 2010 there was no "status" and I personally found my interaction on here a lot more enjoyable. - As far as "contributing", - I have helped several members on here and most of it has taken place in a P.M. type environment so as to not hi-jack threads. - I'm Not asking for something for nothing, never have & never will, - As well, I don't appreciate anyone thinking that they can "shame me" or "annoy me" into what I know isn't true. - Years ago, this WAS a respectful place, and when a user posted it meant something. - And yes there were debates about topics but Respect was present. - Over the last 4 years I've experienced and viewed what I consider as "Gray-Noise", Trolling, and Disrespect from some members who use this forum.

Would you? This thread, like the others before it has turned openly hostile to members of the community. Sane people stay away from an angry rabble mob.

I'm against a pay to read setup. Put a door fee on the site and membership and participation will plummet. There is already a pretty good echo around here and limiting participation will just kill the diversity further.

I believe that there should be a 4 tier system, silver, gold, platnum, and diamond, $25 increase on each level.

It is a real bitch for the owner to beg and borrow from his own personal money when the Costs spiral. The site should stay in the black, and be aggressive about doing so..

I hope the owner here can Avoid selling ad space that attacks the users computers, like 24hrcampfire.com uses. You have to have special ad blockers to even visit that site.
 
I was shopping for a new SSVS a short while ago. I asked if anyone knew of any good deals and was pointed to a member of this forum who saved me HUNDREDS of dollars off the listed internet prices. This site and the folks here saved me a lot of money and I upgraded to gold that day.

My take away for folks: if youyou're shopping for something, ask if anyone knows of a deal. Take some of the money you'll save and pay it to the site for creating that opportunity for you.
