Lapua "Blemished"

Midway has some 30-06 Lapua "blemished" on sale,,,just wondering if anybody ordered Blem brass from Midaway before and what they got,,,??????

Thanx Eric

I bought a box of .308 cases one time and they were all over annealed. Blue and purple rings on the body passed the shoulder. They weren't sold as blemished either.

I actually took them back to Cabelas and they gave me my money back...they usually dont for reloading components.

I had a box like that. Looked annealed down the side of the case. Sent a pic to Lapua and they said it was the cleaning process and assured me they were not over annealed. Just my $.02.

As Tempest said, they were not over annealed. The process that Lapua utilizes to anneal eliminates any possibility of the cases being annealed anywhere but on the neck/shoulder area, and they’re monitored quit closely for QC. They had some issues a while back when they began adding th folded foam sheets to the brass boxes to reduce the possibility of transit damage when they switched to th new plastic boxes. Ironically, the foam material caused a major panic when we found that even the slightest residual traces of moisture caused the cases to tarnish in a manner that perfectly duplicated the appearance of having been improperly annealed. Not the case, and I assure you they’re perfectly safe to use. Polish them after the first firing and you’ll likely removal all traces of the tarnish once and for all. But they did consider it a visual defect, and were replacing the product when it was brought to their attention.

:confused::eek::rolleyes:o_O

Before posting here have you asked the manufacture about the problem.
If you didn't ask you won't know the correct answer.
Instead of a whole lot of hersay posted
Lapua will always help.
Just my2cents.

it would appear that they are dealing with any possible undercount by sending out 101 every time.
The last several boxes that we've picked up were all 101.

They’re packaged by weight, and as always there has to be a little allowance for weight variations. Quite possible that you just had the QC folks setting the packaging scales to operate at the lower end of the weight tolerance, resulting in a perfect 100 count most of the time, occasionally wandering towards 101, rather than heading in th other direction. One of life’s little bonuses, enjoy them when they come along!

I've ordered blemished scopes, and blemished reloading dies from Midway. Both times the only thing that was blemished was the box. I wouldn't hesitate to order a box of blemished Lapua brass from Midway if the price was right. Don't make the association that blemished means factory seconds because that's not the case.

Bought 2 boxes of 6.5 CM, they had 101 in each box, all in great shape. Also bought 4 boxes of 6.5-284, 101 in each box as well, noticed one neck slightly off when chamfering necks, expanding took care of that. Great brass!
