What's with PT&G?

Notwithstanding the recent "Blame Game" thread, I've had a couple of recent somewhat negative experiences with PT&G. Not a problem with their product, but rather one of getting information from them. I"ve called twice now to get chamber drawings for specific chamber reamers. Both times the woman who answered the phone (could have been two different women) said that she'd send them within the hour. Never were sent. I guess I could try a third time, but this doesn't seem right. Anyone else have the same experience with poor customer service from PT&G?

They have been pretty quick sending me reamer prints when I have requested them by email. Grizzly sells some commonly used reamers and has the prints for those on their website.

Maybe obvious here,
Did you check your junk folder?
I’ve had that happen more than once from other vendors

When I have called PTG and asked for reamer prints I have gotten the email with the print before getting off the phone with them. The last one was within the last month.
Maybe they were really busy at the time. Possibly they have the wrong email address. I don't know.

Yes. No response with getting them either. Good products and sometimes slow service. I got over it. Just needed to send another email.

The only way I have been able to get one is have them mail it. I have never gotten a emailed print from them. The print will do nothing for you as it would be really rare that your reamer would be what the print says it should be anyway. If you want customer service you will have to order from JGS. There maybe others I just have not used them.

The office staff is a train wreck, that costs the company
big money. Dave knows this. We talked about this 2 plus
yrs ago. He was in the process of replacing some staff, but it looks like it hasn't improved. Sad. LDS

I ordered one of their reamers a few months back. It was easy to get info from them- they were quick and sent me the print I asked for immediately via email. But the reamer itself was off spec by an annoying amount. The freebore was .010 longer than specified, and the freebore diameter was a bit off as well.

I'm still waiting on 2 reamers I ordered from them a couple years ago. Do you think it would help to call and check on them....:eek::eek:

I finally ordered a reamer from JGS. It got here on time and was right. Amazing huh.

I trust you Damon, so I believe what you say is true. Most people do not have the means to confirm what you have stated. Please describe how you verified those dimensions.

JGS, during 2018, went through some rough spots. They had some new equipment and procedures put in place and delivery time suffered. One order was promised in 8 weeks and was delivered in 16. I ordered another reamer later and it was promised in 12 weeks and it showed up as promised.
They have been very prompt on delivering prints and getting my order in the system.

The last time I called about a reamer print it took 5 calls over a month time period to get the print. I don't do business with them any more.

The gunsmith i used put it on an optical comparator to double check it. The rifle still shot very well and I’m happy with the results, but I would have gone to someone else if it hadn’t been a time crunch. It was a stock reamer for them, and a little longer than I wanted to begin with before they gave me an extra ten thousandths for free.

I never would have known otherwise, and at the end of the day it did the job. But it seems like that’s a bit more slop than I would want leaving my shop if I ran the place.

Thank you and I totally understand.
