Florida IBS 600 yard Championship 2019

I've hear stories of the wind blowing there. I think I'll load something special in case that happens. :)

Yes, we get a lot of wind in the Winter in Manatee County. Yesterday, it was almost dead calm, with a thick early fog in the western part of the County where I live.....today 13-15 from the South. A little more than two weeks ago, there were 75mph gusts from due West measured on the Sunshine Skyway. All depends on what the cold fronts are doing at the time.

The winds at Manatee can be there. When they are, quite often they are straight back to the benches or blowing down range. Sure there have been times when the winds blow from the side - like East or West. There are banks on the sides of the entire range. I often see high flags blowing one way and find out the bullet impact is the opposite. Just figure there is a vortex swirl that seems to reverse the wind affect on bullets.

There are two nice things you will find out at Manatee. One is the wind can and does affect everyone else too. Even us regulars can't figure it out. Some are successful just ignoring the whole thing. Just ask Charlie Brown, regular shooter and winner there. He often says "nuts" to the wind and just holds on to win.

The target line now has a steel plate just left, 10" back, of your target frame. Wait toward the end of the sighter period and take a shot. Now you know. A few seconds later you can do a simple hold-off and be right there.

You can beat us at our own game. Read the above and remember.

I just checked the new year prediction on the weather for the shoot
It looks like we will have some .
The way I see it
It will be calm or windy
Wet or dry or anything in between
One thing you will find
We know how make everyone one feel like they are one of the crowd
Happy new year

NO SNOW!! LOL

Just spent the entire day with two other shooters, working on the Manatee 600 range. In the afternoon it was maybe 80 degrees. Targets and all steel looking good. Weather order is in place with "Mother Nature". Want it hot enough for our Florida shooters to have their tunes work well in the heat. As for the northern visitors, hope you get a good sun tan but not a burn.

Hi guys,

Attached here and on the first post is the match outline. We are limiting the event to 45 shooters (3 relays). There are now 34 confirmed. I will accept email and or phone confirmations to hold a spot. The entries will close at 5:00 PM on Friday Jan 25th. If anyone is planning to come, loaded 200 plus rounds and can not commit by Friday afternoon, I have to wonder. Want to hear from more of the GA "Outlaws"

Also there is a FL trailer rental co. that can set you up with an RV or trailer at a reasonable cost. Club RV spots are only $20 so a good option to the longer drives to the typical motel/hotel chains. Please top off your potable water tanks before coming out the range with and RV or trailer. Water hookups not confirmed, electrics are good to go.

Please deal directly with them. https://www.outdoorsy.com/rv-search?ne_lat=27.5558281&ne_lng=-82.05501600000002&q=Myakka City, Florida, United States&sw_lat=27.167021&sw_lng=-82.35456590000001

I have turned down the heat;)

Would like to know 2 things at the earliest. Number and size of tee shirts we need to order and those that want the BBQ on Saturday.

Hope to see a few shooters come down to enjoy our beautiful weather. Yes, we do get a nasty (for us) cold front to blow thru every so often, but typical weather is sunny and mid-70s.

Hope to see many of you there.

Steve
Guaranteed no hurricanes

If we have a cool morning ( 40's) with a cold north wind like we get this time of the year, better bring some warm clothing just in case. Doug
