Very nice new LONG rifle soft case from 'Allen'

Hi folks,

I was having a very tough time coming up with a soft case to fit one of my rifles that wears a 31" barrel, plus a large 3" muzzle brake. Total length of my rifle is 54".

I bought a Pelican VAULT hard case that fits the rifle, but I also wanted something lighter and easier to carry. I came across this new "Velocity Tactical" line of soft cases made by Allen in a local sporting goods store. The case will accommodate rifles up to 55" and is still tall enough to provide plenty of room for a large high power optic on top. Material is a heavy duty canvas and the case has very thick padded side walls for excellent protection. Also has 3 large pockets for accessories. 2 of the pockets are fastened with velcro, buckle straps, AND zippers to ensure you will not lose even the smallest items. The 3rd front pocket is zipper only. It also has a nice strong top carry handle and a shoulder sling for hands free transportation. This is a VERY nice and extremely heavy duty soft case with excellent protection for long rifles. Much nicer than anything else I've found. Best part is, it only cost me $65!

Just thought I'd bring this to the attention of folks out there trying to find a nice heavy duty padded soft case for those really long rifles.

Pictures. Rifle is a 300 Norma Mag Improved, Defiance Deviant long action, 31" barrel with 3" muzzle brake in a Manners T4A long action stock and large 5-50x56 scope with 4" sunshade. Total rifle length is 54". It all fits in the case with room to spare :)

There are 2 versions of the Allen Velocity Tactical case. One fits rifles up to 42" and the longer model fits rifles up to 55".

Here's a video I found on YouTube that gives further details.

Nice case indeed.

Another good case is the Bald Eagle Cases sold by Grizzly Industrial (formerly Bullets.com sold them & Grizzly continues to stock them).
Can accommodate 60" in length rifles, well padded. - Not as nice on the exterior as the one shown above, but they kept my guns well protected on a 5000+ mile trip from the south all the way up to Montana & back. - And the price is decent as well.

I chose a soft case by Ace and to be honest I'm a bit disappointed in the location and length of the carry handle as my br rifle tends to be muzzle heavy the front of the case tips down and nearly drags on the ground.
Perhaps I'll look into the Grizzly.
Thx Guys

Why not the Allen Velocity Tactical that is the whole point of this thread? My rifle is very front heavy with a 31" barrel with a crown that finishes at just over .900" plus a 6 oz. Muzzle break that extends the barrel another 3+". The Allen case carries the rifle perfectly balanced, plus has a shoulder sling option.

I've looked at other options out there and for long rifle soft cases it doesnt get any nicer than the Allen.

For a hard case, I would recommend the Pelican VAULT. Very nice and well built, extremely heavy duty, and is also long enough to accommodate my 54" rifle with room to spare plus accessories. Waterproof and has wheels too.

Well I certainly would if you think they would handle the weight and Benchrest stock.

My rifle in the pic weighs 18 lbs not including the extra 3+ lbs from scope, mount, and accessories (38 oz. scope, 3-4 oz. sunshade, and 8 oz. Spuhr Ideal mount, plus whatever else I throw in the pockets). Trust me, it will handle the weight with ease and then some. Not even stressing the case or straps.

I got mine at the new Murdoch's Ranch Supply store in Columbia Falls by the Blue Moon. Only place I saw them. They only had the camo color. Of course you can order them on Amazon and choose all black color option like the one in the video if you dont want the camo.

Thanks Buddy "
I like Murdoch's it's a great store"
In fact I almost bought a Cowboy hat in Missoula last June, I tried a couple on and kept asking the little wife her opinion, all she said was I looked ridiculous!:(

Off topic but is that Stryker 5-50x56 scope made by Trijicon ? They make one almost identical.

Yes, but not quite right on the statement. The Stryker HD is made for Delta Optical by Light Optical Works in Japan. The Trijicon Accupower 5-50x56 is also made at the same plant by LOW in Japan. The two scopes are very similar but they do have notable mechanical differences. Turrets, reticles, zero stop, side focus and illumination functions are all different between the two.

I also have the Trijicon Accupower 4.5-30x56. It is an extremely high quality optic. Another big difference is the Trijicon comes with custom Tenebraex scope caps which are one of the nicest set of caps money can buy :) Delta Optical does not supply scope caps.

Glass is great on both. I did a full review on both scopes in the "Scopes, optics..." forum.

Biggest difference in glass is seen in the parallax/focus wheels.

Delta parallax/focus wheel is a little lacking for stuff over 1K. The wheel would work great for short BR or rimfire. Goes from 10m to 300m before infinity setting so it's really touchy at long range.

The Trijicon has a larger finer focus focus that works better at longer ranges. Goes from 15 (I think?) to 1000 yds before infinity. I can easily dial in razor sharp images even when looking at mountains miles away.
