Hi Folks,
I've been offered a 29.25" bartlien barrel chambered in 6.5x47 that has had 700 rounds of f-class shooting through it.
I'm a little budget minded at present and can't afford a new barrel, but need a good shooter for 300-500 yard club level shooting.
Could I expect decent accuracy and barrel life if I had 3-4 inches removed from this barrel and a new crown to get a finish length of 25-26"? It is a good shooter in its current state, but won't fit my action and I assume by taking a few inches, rather than just half a chamber I should be in good rifling and get a decent shooter, but I have little experience rechambering barrels.
The new chambering will be 260AI shooting 123gr scenar.
Cheers,
