We love the Belgrade area in Montana.... yes it can get to -25 in the winter for a while, but it snows less than 72” a year. I can deal with that.... big sky however... 400”+

I lived in a small town in central Idaho for a little over a year. Stanley Idaho, home of the Stomp. Beautiful country and most of it is the Sawtooth Rockies. You will love it there. BUT be aware of the -50* winters.... just saying. Get a Polaris 440, heater on the oil pan and radiator lines and you're set.

I was thinking about Antarctica. It is the only land in the world that no nation has any claim over, so why not just move in. At the rate they're saying climate change is going to take effect, I figure it's only about 20 years before you'll have the equivalent of Northern Canada.

The scenery is beautiful but wait until the dreaded snow starts to fall. Being in Ct. all my life and now getting older I'm tired of it My new dream is warm all year.
The only thing I want to shovel that is white is sand from my patio back onto the beach.

Well, you're in luck, RJ. Lots of "distressed" housing for sale along the Gulf Coast thanks to mother nature and global warming. You can buy a fixer-upper for pocket change right now, but next hurricane season, you might be rebuilding all over again

B-I-L lives in Eagle, have visited 3 times. Rafted the Middle Fork of the Payette and Salmon, and stayed in Stanley at Redfish Lake Lodge. Hiked to Alpine Lake, and Fish Hook Creek; the Sawtooths are an absolutely stunning area. While I am not a fan of the equine species, the horseback ride above Stanley was worth every ache and pain. Visited the Hatcheries there and and McCall (on a separate trip). An Osprey couple nested over the outdoor ponds in McCall, and they were almost too fat to fly .
Drove to Yellowstone from his place as well, first time I ever saw 9’ bales of hay.
Going back this Spring.

Thinking of getting a retirement place near City of Rocks (Almo area). Great rock climbing in the summer and ski area down the road. Not sure how close an 1000 yd. range is though. May have one of my own if I get the right property, set up an e-target.
