New Mcmillan F-open stocks

I know Danny Biggs came up with/has something similar or maybe even exactly...and of course Dan Bramley. These are the two I personally know of, there may be others.

Two years ago Dan sent me the instructions on how to do this stock modification,,,honestly it was above my pay grade and I took a different stock route. I can appreciate having the opportunity to shoot the finished version of this style of stock without having to butcher a couple getting from point a to b.

so other than the obvious benefit of increased length what other benefits to the ZR portion of this stock Jeff
Length will help balance. The high sides take advantage of F-open's relaxed bag rules, allowing more ear contact and more resistance to torque. Lowering the barrel will also help the stock fight the torque of the rifling. Most of this is for better rifle control and tracking.

They increase the "wheelbase" between the front and rear bag. In effect, it makes the front rest less sensitive and easier to get the exact desired POA. It can be frustrating with a front rest full of sand and it just won't settle exactly where you want it with a short stock.

The high sides can be a significant advantage as Alex stated. Just make sure that your front rest and bags are optimized to get full contact.

We screwed the pooch the first relay but kinda made up for it the second....Both guns are 284's in the McMillan Kestros ZR.
