Be careful what you wish for......you may not get it

A copy of my last Email sent to Sharp Shooters Supply.....#5

Lisa,

I have been waiting for delivery of the Benchrest stock I ordered approximately 25 weeks ago. I’m a very patient guy but my patience is wearing thin. Upon our last communication on Jan 24/25th 2018, you indicated that all things were in order to fulfill the orders you had “gotten behind” on. Your words were “Again, I do apologize.......we have gotten quite behind with the stock orders……… We’ll be working our way through them.

I will notify you with the tracking number as soon as I can.”

I responded with my concerns and a request but was answered with silence. So I wait patiently for another 8 weeks, the amount of time your order sheet infers it will take to fill orders. I have paid you in advance with good intension. I have not gotten what you have promised in a reasonable amount of time and feel I deserve some honest and accurate information:

Where is my order and how long will it be until I receive it?

I don’t want to get an Attorney involved but I’m getting the feeling your company never intended to honor our contract.

I own a service company. Here is a good rule to live by….
Good customer service means helping customers efficiently, in a friendly manner. It's essential to be able to handle issues for customers and do your best to ensure they are satisfied. Providing good service is one of the most important things that can set your business apart from the others of its kind.

I have been reading stories like this about them for years. I hope you get your problem resolved sooner than later.

this has been SOP for SSS for a long time and i thought everyone knew it. you shouldnt be surprised if you wanted to deal with them, you should have expected this kind of thing.

I have two SSS stocks for Savage target actions and like them, but I bought both from other members in the Marketplace Forum here. After complaints I've read about them here and on the Savage Shooters site, I would never try to do business with them directly.

If you could have put SSS in the title I could have avoided reading yet another story about a company who for years has not given a crap how many lies they tell their customers. Why complain about this, you knew it would happen! One little search and all is clear. I have no sympathy for you at all. In sanity, look up the definition.

Maybe a little insight as to the character of the owner of SSS, Fred Moreo is in order.....

Some years ago at one of the VHA's Jamboree evening seminars, the guest speaker was Darrell Holland. During his presentation, Fred and his minions were in the audience near the front of the group, talking, joking about, snickering and in general just showing total disrespect and lack of decorum to all present, but especially to the speaker trying to be heard above the crap emanating from Fred and his crew.

I knew right there that this bunch was not only unprofessional, but juvenile and disrespectful of all present, and wondered just how their business was doing and would do in the future being led by such apparent cretins. I don't own a Savage, but after reading the above and other posts related to this outfit, I'm not surprised at all. JME JMO

I have purchased some items from Sharp Shooter Supply. Some were delivered on time, some were not. I know when I order there is a possibility I may have to wait so I don't order anything that I consider urgent. I am considering one of their fluted bolts as I like his pattern. If I get one, it will be on a bolt body he provides as I will not send mine in with the possibility of having to wait for an extended time. I would like to try his action timing/truing but I don't have an extra action right now so I will wait until I do have an extra. He keeps getting business because he fills a niche market. There are those who will use no one else. Some seem to wear the wait time like a badge of honor, like the wait time means they are getting the very best. From what I have seen, his work is good but there are many other gunsmiths who provide good work as well. One of the nice things about a Savage is there are not many things that you really need a gunsmith for. Changing barrels, installing triggers, adjusting firing pin protrusion, etc are not difficult. As to his stocks, I have not seen on in person but there are other companies who make really good stocks for Savage rifles.

Back in the 80's and 90's I lived near Lima Ohio and attended the gun show that was held there every month during the fall and winter.

SSS often had a booth set up there, I can still remember that it was always located in the 2nd building against the back wall. I don't know that I ever met Fred, but I can tell you that the people I met at that table were some of the most arrogant a$$ clowns I ever met at a gun show.

After moving away from the area and no longer attending that show, I lost track of them. I was surprised to find out some years later that they were still in business.

Been there done that and never looked back! Myself and another member here caught Mrs. SSS not telling the truth as we both talked to her the same day. It just didn't add up.

I have purchased a number of items from Fred at SSS, I only live about an hour from their shop so I am within driving distance. I have heard all the horror stories for years and won't begin to make excuses for the way they run their business. However what was once a busy shop with multiple employees has tapered down to just Fred and his wife. That being said one guy can only do so much work in a given time. That doesn't justify the poor communication on their part and the blown deadlines promised to customers but seeing it in person on a recent visit to pick up some single shot adapters it makes more sense now. Again I am not agreeing with the way they operate but I now have a better understanding. I have owned a few of Fred's Stocks and they sure are top notch but in all honesty I wouldn't pay for one upfront unless it was ready to ship or I bought it from the classifieds section of this forum.

The only thing SSS is quick about is taking your money. Worst business I have ever dealt with. The timed and trued actions, you can do the same thing with a dremel and some polishing compound. I'm embarrassed to have spent money with them.
