electronic targets

Going to be using e-targets for the first time next month. I know that I need to connect via wi-fi, but as far as the actual device: I have my iphone or 12" ipad. Worth bringing the bigger pad out for it, or is the phone good enough?

Take your ipad with some way to prop it up so you can set it on the shooting bench so you can view it quickly between shots.
A phone is OK if you a spectating but to small to view while you are shooting.
Good luck

An up-to-date iPad with a case that lets it stand up at an angle will serve you well. If the venue involves a high probability of RAIN, and they offer a “club pad”, well, there is no sense in getting your iPad wet or beat up.

Id like to just see a range with electronic targets and I pads for shooters... Make me feel "Old School".

Shoot, walk/drive to the target, again and again and again...

If you are somewhat near sighted, a phone works fine, lay it right under the pistol grip and you can see it by just glancing down. Another big advantage is that since it is under you and the rifle, you won’t have the glare or the washed out by the sun problems, that bigger, prop up displays have

You have to provide your own device or choose to?

The one place I've shot et provides laptops and I didn't see anybody using a personal device.

Just out of curiosity, which range are you shooting at that has the electronic targets?
Headed down to visit my folks in Melbourne FL. Malabar is only 15 miles away, so planned it around their Feb Monthly F-Class shoot. Never been there, but looks like they went e-target after Irma.

I have only competed in 2 LR matches, and I (and my rotator cuff) am kind of looking forward to not getting assigned the sticky target.

Malabar has loaner tablets, but I'd reserve one ahead of time.

If you bring your iPad, turn up the brightness and turn sleep mode off. It's very annoying to have to keep opening the screen again.

ah good call- thanks! Website says limited to first 80 shooters- do they usually get that many?

Also I bookmark the website for the target system and put an icon for it on my home screen. Makes it quick to get back to the site if you get bounced out for some reason.
