Checkering stuff

Seems like I got back into checkering after a friend in Va. talked me into doing his on a Browning Citori stock set I finished for him. Tried it out on a nice piece of English Walnut end grain just to see how it would work out.. Seems like I didn't loose the touch..

Thats about a 3x5 piece and it took about 2 hours...

No idea how hard that stuff is, the softer woods do not take to it very well...

It's a hardwood, but lightweight. I suppose that means it's softer than most hardwoods.

Could do that also, or call and ask if he has a clue about rather it would take to checkering or not ....
