I changed my mind.

I don't like the idea of less than 1,000 accurate rounds out of a barrel.

I'm going to wager that it can be. I run the 90VLD at 2800 with out stepping on it. I know guys running them 2850 and more (with the associated limited brass life). This bullet should be capable of getting into the range of 2800 if chambered properly.

At to the BC. if the BC isn't better than the 90VLD "what's the point?"

I'm betting that it needs a 6.5 even in a long barrel. If it will shoot I'll run them at mid range (bites that I have a brand new 1:7 waiting to be chambered though)That said, the calculators say you need faster than a 1:7 for the Berger 90VLD, but it's been proven that the 90VLD will shoot great from a 1:7, esp out to 600, and Randy shot them well in Palma to 1000 though I don't recall his twist. The F'rs haven't had much success with any 223 past 600 in at least 4 or 5 yrs.

Yeah,a buddy and I have been thinking about this too and I’m thinking 6-6.5 twist and a 32” barrel..I run the 90gr vld right in the 2830-50 range and it shoots pretty good up to 600 but lacks a bit out at a 1000.I have now finally jumped on the 308 wagon and it will be hard to get me away from it.

Unless the reported "0.6" BC is banded, the G7 BC should be approximately 0.306, with about another 4% increase if they aren't pointed yet...can't tell from the picture. That is approximately an 11.7% increase over the Berger 90 VLD (0.274 G7 BC), which is a marked improvement. These could likely be pushed at about 2775 fps with H4895, which translates to approximately 0.8 MOA advantage at 1000 yd (6.3 vs 7.1 MOA) and 0.3 MOA even at only 600 yd (3.4 vs 3.7 MOA). If the precision is comparable, these will be a game-changer. Compare the predicted Sierra 95 gr windage at 1000 yd (6.3 MOA) to the predicted value for a Berger 200.20X (un-pointed) going 2680 fps of 6.1 MOA. That's a pretty small difference that could be more than made up by the relative lack of recoil from the .223.

Highly Unlikely with that case capacity unless your willing to shoot Lapua & "bin" every one after firing at that velocity. (I base my assessment on Q/L)

26" 223AI might get the 95s to 2800ish; I ran 90 VLDs at 2750 from a 22" AI with a scant 0.061" freebore.

You will have a hard time getting to 2800 without destroying brass (according to Q/L) with most any powder that I computed. unless running a very long barrel. (And slower powder)
