fx 120i

Got any suggestions on good pan to use? I was going to try a small metal measuring cup.
Adam from Adams Trickler recommends the pan that comes with a RCBS beam scale or Chargemaster, they can be found online and relatively cheap, that's all I use with my set up and had no problems with it.
As far as calibration goes AnD recommend using a weight close to the scales maximum weighing capacity. Once properly warmed and calibrated I've not seen any drifting with my 120 at all.

I use stainless steel condiment cups I got at Target. You can also get them at a restaurant supply store, they look like a SS shot glass. I like them because they are heavy and don't get accidentally knocked over as easily as something lighter.

Even though I wont be using Adam autotrickler for now but using dippers and a manual trickler. Do you still suggest using Adams suggested settings?

Plastic (or metal if you prefer) measuring cups from Amazon . . . several purpose-made pans from Midway, Amazon, etc . . . your choice of metal or plastic, height, and with or without a handle.

Well i ordered the fx120 now is there any settings that should be changed for reloading use with a dipper and manual trickler?

There is a wealth of settings for the FX-120i but there are to my knowledge no must-change settings. I did change the 'Zero Tracking' setting to Off on mine, not sure if it really makes a difference. The way I read it that will prevent the scale from 'favoring zero' and more accurately show drift from zero, I might be wrong on that though.

You can also change the order of the units so that 'grains' will show up automatically when you turn on the scale. By default it will show 'grams' and you have to press the Mode button 10 times to cycle to grains each time you turn the scale on. Changing this setting also allows you to deactivate units you do not use, if you wish. I have mine set to only do grains, ounces and grams, and to default to grains when turned on.

Here is a link to the user manual for the FX-120i. Changing the order of the units is described on page 11. Changing other functions is described starting on page 31.

Changing the settings can be a bit intimidating until you get used to it, lots of what initially seems like random button presses but the manual is pretty good.

I've got a dozen stainless steel condiment cups that I'd be happy to give away to fellow shooters, I just don't think it would be worthwhile when you consider the cost of shipping, a small flat rate box is $7.30. If someone is interested please let me know.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned what I consider to be indispensable, the powder pan with integrated funnel. Several companies sell them.

You get the powder into the pan by dipping, trickling, or whatever. Then you insert any reasonably sized case neck into the tapered funnel mouth, tilt the pan, tap it with your finger, and place the charged case into your loading block. It has handles on each side, but I prefer to grip the pointed end with my thumb, index finger, and middle finger.

This thing is so valuable to me that I bought a spare just in case I somehow lose my primary pan.
