Does BC=Accuracy?

Hi guys new to the forum and wanted to pick your brains. I'm wondering if a better ballistic coefficient equates to better accuracy, all other things being equal. I understand that a higher BC means less drop and less wind drift, but does it also make a bullet more consistent if it is the only variable changed.

I'll just jump in and say no it doesn't, all else being equal. That said, if the high BC projectile shoots accurately in my rifle, that is the one I'm going with.

At distance, a higher bc bullet has to shoot better, we don't see too many lower bc flat base bullets shot at 1000 yards. Now under 300 yards, I say no.

I think I'll just be a bystander on this one

There are so many variables that go into 'accuracy'..... I have never considered bullet BC to be one of them. I just prefer higher BC bullets for any rifle I use to shoot long range because they use up less scope elevation adjustment and get to the target quicker which makes them less affected by wind. So I guess you could say a higher BC bullet 'can' be more accurate at long range in adverse weather conditions. Short ranges, say 400 yards and under, I don't think you'd see much of any difference.

I have seen a couple rifles in the past, 222 Rem Mag and one 22-250, that would not shoot a higher BC boat tail bullet very well no matter how hard you tried. Stuck a couple different light weight flat base bullets in them and they shot the lights out with little bug holes. Gotta go where the accuracy lies. In those rifles, it wasn't with the higher BC bullets.

Bc on bullet only show after 100 yards . I pointed some benchrest bullets . At 100 I could see any difference at 100 .
200 was where it showed 300 around 1".
Test at 1000 yards the same bullet speed with Different Bc bullets their was as much as two feet difference in impact point .
Like someone else said BC doesn't make a bullet shoot . Larry

Short answer NO, with in reason that is. I have found that bullets that exceed .500 in regard to 6mm may have a wind advantage but can become more temperamental in a VLD profile & does not guaranty better grouping or scoring even with correct twist etc. to stabilize a given bullet.

Accuracy and BC have no relation. They are totally separate. Obviously BC will help mitigate wind drift. I do all my tuning at the longest range I intend to use the rifle and will always pick the most accurate combination. I think guys are splitting hairs when comparing BC of bullets in a similar class like the 105 6mm bullets. They are all pretty close in BC, shoot the one that groups smallest.

As said BC doesn't have anything to do with inherent accuracy but it can help you as a shooter be more accurate by being less wind sensitive. But you still have to do your part..

I have shot round balls into very nice groups. same with double sided wadcutters.
Yes muzzleloaders can be accurate with round balls. They sure are not high BC. Even the ones using Parker bullets and modern powder. My one shooting buddy makes them. They're scary accurate. Shooting 2 to 3 inch groups at 600 yards. Those bullets are not the sleek VLD type or boattail. Matt

In and of itself, no.
BC equals more consistent and more predictable bullet flight, which equals the opportunity for better accuracy and consistency.
