Fx-120I - Help needed!!! New to me...

Ok, I just got my new FX-120i scale delivered. I got it put together, and I can turn it on by pressing the on button...

I tried reading instructions, but all that jibberish has left me clueless.

So I can turn it on...

How do you set grains as standard weight instead of grams? Or do yall click mode to change to grains every use?

How do you calibrate this SOB? Lol it said something about an auto calibration, then another part said it was FZ series only that does it... I need to figure out the calibration!

Once calibrated can I just trickle out charge after charge again? Because I trickled one charge but when I set my pan on it it didnt return to zero...

Im lost...

to calibrate. push cal button it should read zero. press print button the it will read a weight that is needed. then print button agian. i'm not sure how there set up from new. mine is set for 50g weight.

every time it is turned on you have to sellect gn with the mode button

It set up for a 100g calibration weight. So I guess I need to buy one of those from somewhere before I can use the scale..

Hold CAL button, will flash cal out, then shows cal 0. Next press PRINT, it will show 100. Set your 100 grain weight on the tray, and wait until it shows END. Remove test weight, then place empty pan on tray. use MODE Button to choose grain, or gram, then hit RE-ZERO. Next, manually scoop your target weight on to the pan, and press PRINT. Charge your brass, and replacing the empty pan onto the tray, will show Zero, and start trickling again. You can throw a scoop on to help get it up closer to your Target Wt.
The Mode Button will act as your temporary stop, and the Print button will restart. they can also be used to re-set your Target Weight.

You can change it to a 50gr cal weight, and I would do that. You push cal. It says 0. You push print. Wait. It says 100, or 50 if you change it. You put a 100 or a 50 gr cal weight on it. Push print. Wait a while. It says complete. Make some bullets to shoot.

How many units of measure do you have? I only have grains and grams, but I think I might have deleted all the ones I didn't want. It's been a while.

I dont have the auto trickler yet... couldnt afford it just yet so im doing manuel here for a little while...

I figured out the calibration. Thats easy enough, i just need to find a place to get a calibration weight now

Just go buy a gram of cocaine, and dump it on your pan.
I'm sure your local drug dealer would be spot on.

338,
all kidding aside, your fx120i is a very accurate (SENSITIVE) scale, for our purpose. I recommend you use a Line Conditioner, and in a no wind environment (a/c ~ heater vents, windows...) to utilize its precision ability.

The 20, and 30 combined will work, however, wipe them off with alcohol, and dry them, then use tweezers or gloves to handle the weights. The natural oil in your finger prints could change your check weights!

I weighed a small piece of paper, then wrote the actual weight on it, and the scale weighed the difference of the INK that I wrote the weight with!

If you ever have the need to verify 1 gram. One dollar bill = 1 gram. Worked U/C Narcotics for years and every major trafficker to the lowly poo butt user always used the dollar bill trick to verify scale. You will love your scale. Just don't get frustrated like I did with my first one. 1+ on what kneedtospeed wrote

1Gram, As long as it's not sticky, from the last Stripper, or runny nosed cokehead! Lol

My FX-120i arrived just a few days ago too. You're right...some of the instructions could be improved. First thing I tried to do was re-arrange the units so I wouldn't have to cycle the 'Mode' button so many times...must have goofed something up though because the scale would only display 'grains' and all the other units were deleted. Good thing the instructions on how to reset the scale are clear...Section 9-2.

The default calibration weight is 100g, but 50g is the alternate option.
Since you have them, try using your 20g and 30g weights to calibrate the scale.
First you'll have to change the calibration weight setting to 50g as Dos XX mentioned.
After calibration is complete and you're back in the 'weighing mode', place the two weights on the scale and record the value. Say they weigh 50.012g for example.
Go back into the calibration routine and use Step 4 to change the 'calibration weight' from 50g to 50.012g
This process can be repeated as necessary until you feel you're zeroed in on the desired results.

If you buy a 50g/100g precision test weight, it may or may not weigh EXACTLY 50g/100g and you may end up doing the same routine.

Good luck...and there's always Section 9.2 if you need it:D.

Try setting the mode to FAST. The stability to "0". The zero tracking to "3". To access this hold the "Sample" button until you see "bASFnc", then press "PRINT" and then the "MODE" button to cycle through the functions. After setting, press "PRINT" again to exit the setup function. If you get lost, turn the scale off and on again.

My scale made me age a couple years before I figured it out. I couldn't get a stable reading. Found out it was the electrical power to the house causing all the trouble. 2 things fixed it. The first was putting 2 of the Fair-Rite RCT-2 Ferrite Beads on the power cord. I had some eBay cheapies that didn't work. If you get these, install them according to these instructions: http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/how-to-install-a-ferrite-bead.html

Those helped a lot but I still had issues until I got a line conditioner, a Tripp-Lite LC1200. The scale is rock solid now. Hopefully, you won't have these problems.

It's very important to get the scale 100% level too. Also, every time you use it, use a test weight (anything in the range of the powder charges) to verify it hasn't drifted.

So a ton of money is worth $906,118. I always wondered about that. Good to know.
