Accuracy VS velocities

Sorry to hijack, but I assume anything goes in this thread... I see 12 twist for the 80gr Dominators in a BRA. Is there a consensus on bore diameter? .236 or .237??? Thanks. Now you guys can have back at it.

It's in a Kreiger, I don't even worry about that a.0005 on a land I don't see any difference. I would guess it is a .237.... Jim

Some barrel manufacturers change the land width to keep the bore area the same on the 236 and 237. I dont know if Krieger does this.

John Krieger told me that he preferred a 70/30 ratio, i.e. 70% area for the grooves and 30 % for the lands. This was several years ago and I don't know if he still has this ratio. Good shooting...James

I've been reading all this,(My gun is better than your gun stuff) The World Open is July 8th and 9th and I'm sure one of you can show me how to read the wind at that place, because it sure beats the crap out of me. Its our 50th Anniversary and I'm sure you all would love to get a shot at our prize table. Actions,Barrels,Scopes, Bullets you name it. But I still want someone to hold a 7 Day match. That would be worth it to see who would come out on top there!

I don't see anyone that would change any ratio for a .0005 change in land height. Jim
Rock creek keeps the bore area the same for either bore size. And if I had to pick one barrel company, it would be them. And I am thinking more and more its the area of the bore, more so than the configuration of rifling or bore size that really matters. I have not talked with the others about their ratios. Who have you talked with that said they dont?

Alex, widths are the ratios, I find it hard to believe they would change something that would be within tolerance each way. or you would not need a handful of pilot bushings...... I never talked to anybody that said they did...... lol.. Jim

You guys must sleep in or something, we'd all just have to stand around and BS for at least an hour and a half to kill time. Joking aside, all shooting accomplishments impress me. It should be obvious to break a record lots of things have to fall into place including conditions. And people that set multiple records really impress me. That shows its not luck. And then guys who have set records in different disciplines, thats awesome. I think Jim set some in short range too right? Either way, when a record is set or match won theres always guys trying to knock it down. He had good conditions, started earlier, or luck or hummer barrel, blah blah blah. That says nothing about the guy who set the record, but it says everything about the guy knocking it. They are jealous, and know its out of their reach so they try and knock it. 99% of shooters could not break a world record in a vacuum! And that includes me. :)

So I say, dont knock anyones accomplishments until you can back it up...
Very well said Alex! I know how hard this game is, 1 tenth of powder can make or brake you on any given target!!! I have been very fortunate and I admire anyone that puts the effort into being successful at 1000 yards. Good luck to all in the 2017 season!!!

All BS aside YOU opened the door! You took a swing at another range. The straight up truth is...because of your format at Deep Creek, the rest of the 1000 yard community who shoots all day isn't happy. Y'all have an advantage! 80 percent of records are set because of conditions. Shooters got to put in the work, but as far as records are concerned conditions play a huge roll. So the rest of the 1000 yard community sees conditions plus format as an advantage over the rest of the 1000 yard Shooters.

I know I've pissed in a lot of folks cornflakes. I'm not the only one thinking it, I'm just the one that will actually say what others want to.

Coming from the experience of one sanctioned match in your entire life? A format exactly like ours to boot! How easy was it again?

Tom
Here it goes again
I shot sancitioned matches for years just not IBO . And conditions has always dictated the results . Larry

Seems to me if your local or live somewhere in the greater vicinity of Deep Creek, conditions or not, that's where your going to shoot right?

I live 1:10 from Sacramento and 1:45 from Palomino in Nevada. Guess what 2 ranges I shoot at the most, and it's not Deep Creek or Williamsport...
Conditions at both the ranges I frequent are known to be challenging, so what. It's where I choose to shoot.

I'm mean trips are fun and everything but lets get real, you shoot the most where you live the closest to. If someone lives closer to a range that's consistantly got decent conditions I don't expect them to drive 40 hours round trip or jump on a plane just to make life more fair for me. And in the token, If you want to shoot Deep Creek for the conditions, well load up the truck and get on the road.

Bart -
Appears someone may be yanking your chain... or your unaware and confused on several aspects.
Here are some current IBS facts for you:
- There are multiple clubs/ranges who hold 1 match per day events, and is the original traditional way.
- Montana uses the original & traditional Shoot-Off format, like most all others clubs do.
- Montana uses a 8:00 AM start time, same as several other IBS clubs/ranges do.
Montana is conducting there matches the exact same way other ranges do, well within the tradition of the IBS1000, and like they have for +15 years. So what's to bitch about?

All those tears must make the cry-babies cereal awful soggy.... lol
