I was thinking about worlds and I have never pair fired before. If you have a malfunction on the line do you get zeros until you get the problem fixed or do you get to make up the missed shots?
Maybe you get a chance to fix it.
Check out the ICFRA rules here: http://www.icfra.com/page5.htm
By my reading F8.3 & F8.4 are the ones to look at.
Don't forget to bring a mallet or pointed stick to motivate the shooter with whom, you will be paired.
Hence the need for the instruments I referenced earlier. From what I have heard the 45 sec rule will be enforced
A cattle prod would do the job
Last time I pair fired, my partner was waiting for a certain condition to return. He is a great guy and I did not call it on him, but there should be a way to politely say something. After several minutes I totally forgot the condition I was shooting in. E-targets would totally solve that problem. Last shot fired xx seconds ago right on the screen, but you would still have to say something. Causing a situation is not good for either of the shooters concentration. What to do? Shot counts as a miss, if you do not shoot in 45 seconds? That would seem harsh.
It's even more fun when you and your partner speak different languages and neither understands the other oneDisclaimer: I have only pair fired one match (3 days)
It was explained to me during that match (and confirmed recently from a World-class shooter) that the 45-sec starts once previous shooter agrees to the score. Thus good communication between shooter and scorer (and potentially on-deck shooter if 3 to a mound is used or nonfiring scorer) will be very important - including a clear verbal acknowledgement of acceptance of the score.
Pair firing was extremely fun. Drew

had that problem at the worlds (bisley 2009) ,learn to count to 5 in french, german, italian, polish. or print off a sheet with V ,5 ,4, 3, 2, 1 . LAMINATE IT , AND POINT TO IT , TO INDICATE THE SCORE TO YOUR SHOOTING PARTNER .
Yeah, I had that in 2013. I'm fluent in French, English, pretty good in Spanish and so-so in German and I understand Italian (certainly enough to count.)It's even more fun when you and your partner speak different languages and neither understands the other one
