Advice on a somewhat reasonable shooting rest for bench and field

I'm looking for a somewhat reasonable shooting rest for the bench for barrel break-ins and scope zeroing that might also work on the edge of a field for varminting. I'm fine working from a bipod but it isn't always the favored solution. What I've seen so far makes it look like there are inexpensive options, expensive options, and not much in between. The Sinclair Heavy Varmint Rest is heavy and pricey, and the Sinclair Benchrest Style Lightweight Rest seems to suffer faint praise as "being okay for rimfire." Any thoughts here or suggestions? Thanks!

Is one of those the "Competition" Model? I have one, they are not real heavy, and they sit steady at the range or out shooting Rockchucks out here in Idaho.

Thanks for the suggestions. I liked the idea of the Bald Eagle, until I read some negative reviews. I decided to go with the Sinclair Lightweight: http://www.brownells.com/shooting-a...complete-w-rt-3-sku749008078-38097-63720.aspx It's a minimalist solution for someone who probably won't be shooting F-class or Palma any time soon and is more into the practical shooting thing, although you can get Palma feet and long legs for it. I figure I'll throw some bags of shot over the legs and pray really hard if we get caught in a wind storm.

Bald Eagle Sling Shot bottom and Shade Tree Eng. top. Best of 2 worlds(IMO) for the money spent. There are way nicer ones but, I only use it for sighting in and load work up.

The only negative that I've heard on the Bald Eagle is the cable controlled windage. I've had two for over 25yrs and really like them.

I too have a Sinclair lighgweight. It will do the job, but I prefer the Bald Eagles. Weight is a factor, but weight is good IMO.

Should have just bought a Caldwell.

You need two, maybe a Bull bag for the field.

I have a bald eagle slingshot. Instead of loosing the cable, take one of the return/tension springs out, and lub the table with Eezox and reassemble. Super smooth and works like a champ.......

New product from Lyman that I tried this past weekend that I really liked. It's call a "Bag Jack" and with a good front rest bag it is very repeatable.
Take a look.

I got the cast iron triangle bald eagle bottom and the shade tree top and a 15 dollar thrust bearing.
And very happy with mine.
Oh and some protektor bags with the slick silver.

I'll probably make go with a bag of shot or two if it comes to it. And for those extolling the virtues of one certain product, I appreciate your viewpoints, but I think you guys may be a little more BR-oriented than I am.
