I'm having F Class withdrawals

Well, from time to time, travel. If you thrive on competition, there are 2 places you would love. 1.) For 1000 yard F-Class, go to Bayou Rifles in Houston and 2.) for 600 yards, go to Palo Alto in Louisiana. BOTH have some tough conditions and some of the best shooters anywhere.

Both are awesome. I'd also suggest Golden Triangle Gun Club for matches during Jan-Feb.

The past couple years I've been traveling for work for a lot of the winter months and need alternate venues to prevent withdrawl from setting in. Talladega CMP is a great place for simulated matches or "informal" matches with a few friends at 300 or 600 yards. We have not encountered the technical difficulties in our informal matches that have been widely reported in the more organized F-Class matches.

I also bought a bunch of 300 yard paper F-Class targets so a group of friends can get together for an informal match wherever we can find a 300 yard place to shoot. You can shoot your sighters on a shoot-n-see target, and then shoot at the paper target "for record." It is not the same as a match with pits at 600-1000 yards, but it does help satisfy the urges and keep one well-practiced while waiting for the spring schedule to get going.

That is excellent! I now live in Arizona where we can shoot year round. However, I am still planning on going back to Bayou Rifles at the end of April for the Texas State Long Range Championship! Tremendous competitive level there. There may even come a time where I will sign up for the Mid-Range State Championship at Palo Alto>>>the toughest 600 yard competition anywhere! So travel is still on my radar too!

Ben, Registration is officially open for the La. State F-class Midrange Championships at Palo Alto in October.

Carthage TX the 25th and 26th of this month. Midrange match but the competition will be stiff.
Mark, can I get more info on this? I'm not sure what the weather will do here by then. I'm laid off yet from road construction and maybe I can fit this in before the work season begins. How many rounds and what distance? Range info and registration info would also be appreciated. Thank you.

TSRA.com should have the match bulletin. If you don't find anything PM me and I'll send you some info

Jeff, I'll have to look up how far of a drive it is for me. If you do come down, I might join you there.

The match is at Panola County Gun Club in Carthage, TX.

I attach the match program for the March 25/26 match, it's on the Panola County Gun Club website.

I e-mailed the Red Castle match director. It looks like me and big d will be headed down next weekend. Maybe a few more of the guys from the frozen tundra would like to join the fun?

The more the merrier. Pack the rain gear slight chance of rain.

I sent my info. Let's see if it was a success

Jeff, I just thought of a better idea. Why don't you stop by the house on your way. Wifey is going to MOA. Not what you think. MALL OF AMERICA. You hold down this fort while I run over by scully with your equipment...
