Looks like he bit the dust south of Alamosa CO close to NM.

Some of the biggest mule deer in the country can be found in New Mexico. Especially in Rio Arriba County.

Years ago I used to hunt the Chama area for elk. Asking around about mule deer I was told the area north of Pecos had huge mule deer. Passing through there a year later we inquired about renting horses to take in & the wrangler told us he hoped we could tell the difference between a mule deer & an elk, because supposedly the mule deer were so big. Now I see what he was talking about!!!!

Some of the biggest mule deer in the country can be found in New Mexico. Especially in Rio Arriba County.

The same can be said about west Texas. It's amazing what is hiding in all this sage brush
