Lab Radar, Results are in!

After extensive testing and evaluation, we are proud to announce that we will be carrying the Lab Radar in our store! Having put multiple devices through a battery of tests both in the lab and in the field we have found it to be an exceptionally accurate, and reliable device. We now use the Lab Radar for all measurements outside the lab and have found it to be a trustworthy investment.
We will be releasing results and application of the Lab Radar in the future publications, and will discuss its performance in the upcoming seminar in 4 weeks. If you want to learn more about this devices performance, and how it has been used to help further research as well as win in competition join us Nov 3-4th for our final seminar of the 2016 year! http://appliedballisticsllc.com/ballistics-resources/abseminar2016/

This is a product we can firmly say you can trust. Backed by research, and field testing. When it comes to testing muzzle velocity, this is our number one recommendation.

Is the lab radar giving you a actual MV like the Magneto speed, or do you have to reverse calculate it? (for app use)

It gives you actual MV.

Thanks. didnt know if you had to do any conversion for true MV like with a CED or Oehler at 10 feet or so. I'd seen slight differences on postings between the MS and the lab radar. Always wondered

Labradar by default gives you MV0 which it calculates by back extrapolating using the various MV it captures at different range.

In the above photo's (some are showing the unit above line of sight and along way to the side) what trigger method is being used ??

I place mine right next to the barrel and never had a problem. But I've seen a guy at the range place his above the barrel and he had no problems either.

I recognise the top photo! I was just to the right when it was taken.
It is the Zero range at the Whittington Centre the day prior to the KO2M

As for the lab rader, it does not like the muzzle brake on my .50 needs shielding for the .5s and the 338lm

Hi Joe
I had all sorts of issues getting mine to work, the first was the stupid V aiming slot on top, and secondly the unit needs to be next to the muzzle when using the "trigger" mode. I have seen a few photo's and the unit is way behind the muzzle (Bart especially) and wanted to know if "trigger or Doppler" was being used ??

how are you shielding yours from the blast ? I've been using a cement block when I'm shooting a braked rifle . I get the bbl pretty close as in pic two . it's heavy to move around , but it does work . I'm just looking for something easier to carry along to the range . this is my 338LM .

Matt, for a .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor I place the unit about 6-12 inches to the side and no more than 4-6 inches toward the breech from the muzzle. I use the internal trigger if placed in that position. If I could not get it that close to the muzzle and had to position further toward the breech, I used Doppler mode as the trigger. My unit has not missed a shot when set-up properly and I remember to arm it on a non-suppressed rifle.

I've had problems with a Little Bastard brake knocking the LabRadar down when I put it 6 inch back and 12 inch to the side. I got it to work by putting the radar something like 18" back and 6" to the side.

Use the "V" aiming slot as a holder for a small plastic rod that is like 4-5" long to aim. In gun terminology, we can that extending your sight radius. It works well.

thanks I'll give that a try .

It will work because even though the radar is farther away than normal, the louder blast of the brake easily compensates. The only down side is your MV0 will be slightly off by the distance you lied to the radar.

On every picture LabRadar is BEHIND the muzzle (barrel extends about 10-12'' past radar) but on mine I can only get a reading if the radar is placed about the same distance past the muzzle... Does anybody have any ideas why is that happening? TNX.

@kris4ocean I never tried mine forward of the muzzle; the layout of our firing line isn't very friendly to that kind of setup. I never did get mine to read using the acoustic trigger; reads just fine using the doppler trigger though.
