R.W. Hart & Sons in Nescopeck, PA sells a quality one also. Although, not quite as secure as a bolt holster, Home Depot and Lowes sell cordura cell phone holders with belt loops that work OK for a fraction of the cost.

A leather pliers belt holder from Home Depot with about 1" of the bottom cut out. It's tight at first but loosens up with use. I made the first cut and removal too little but the second one allowed the nose of the bolt to poke thru and it holds the bolt snugly but allows it to be pulled out without too much effort.

I like the way you think. The savings over a high-end holster would be better spent on components.

Save a bunch of money and go buy a leather mini mag flashlight holder. The belt slide model. I stretched out a couple of them and they fit my REM bolts perfectly.
