NAME CHANGE Procedure

Some users were note seeing the Name Change Option in the Blue Profile Card. I tracked that down -- there was a default minimum post value that limited access to this. I have removed the limit so you should be able to change your name.

We no longer have a "display name" option -- so this will allow users who wish to alter the name the world sees. NOTE: the name change will change your LOGIN name and account name.

PM's are now conversations? Sounds too PC for this site...........After buying from the classifieds must we now post "I'll take it.....Conversation on it's way?" Perhaps the headings could be changed?
You also use to be able to bring up copies of all the PM's you sent (if you chose to save them) but all I can find are the one's that I received. I sure hate loosing the sent PM's as they were part of my records of previous transactions.

Regards,
Thomas

go to the very top of this page , left side . under the red accurate shooter emblem you'll see home in the dark blue , under that in the light blue is mark forum read . it took me awhile to find it too .

Thanks, found it.

Thanks, found it.

On the old site, I didn't have manually mark threads as read or whatever you call what I'm having to do now. Is there a setting that I can fix so I don't have to go through a three step process every time I get done reading through the posts?

When I clicked "Marked Forums Read", it marked every/all of them... The old forum I had to do it for each forum. The only downside is it marks forums I don't check as often read too but I'll take that over nothing.

Scratch that... It did that because I was on the main page when I clicked the link. If you are in a forum it will ask I'd want ask forums or the one you're in.

Yea. For me anyway, on the old one I didn't have to do anything. I'd refresh the page by clicking forum at the top and it would only highlight the forums that had new postings since I had looked at them. Now it seems like to have that feature, I have to go through a 12 step program to mark each one before I move on to the next. Oh well. I needed an excuse to not spend so much time on here anyway.

How do we change our profile photo? I have been trying to figure it out all day.

The user avatar feature will be enabled later for contributing members. We need to work out some bugs in the database first. We want to make sure the Avatar upload feature runs smoothly.

I also like the fact it takes you to the last post read...you don't have to scroll through all the posts to figure out what you've already seen.

Again, so far I like it. I'm in software business, I know how hard these "upgrade/installs" can be. Great job guys!

And "y'all" is spelled wrong, it's ya'll . . . and this is on one of the nice names we use! LOL

Y'all is spelled Y'all. In Texas anyway. Yankees spell It Ya'll. It even red lines it here as misspelled.

I like the new look.

The classified's column on the right is much better now from when I griped it a few days ago. And yes, buggy whips still have their place. Great for smart asses.
From the number of questions and complaints, I think it confirms my initial comment... if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Change just for the sake of change is not a good thing.
Wes

So in a nutshell: Threads are now "discussions", posts are now "messages", PM's are now "conversations", and smiley and thumbs-up icons are now "likes" and they are accrued and now part of ones profile-as some sort of popularity contest. Why the change in terminology?....as I visit other sites it seems threads and posts are the universal language in website forums. It really does give the first impression of change for the sake of change. If the original terminology been kept, the transition would have been much easier. Perhaps the system format needed change, but to re-label common terms is silly.
For further confusion at the top of the page in the header in light blue is "Watched Threads and "New Posts"....so there is an inter-mix of terms now used throughout the forum.

I left feedback to a couple people on some transactions i just had and wonder if they receive them in a pm like on the old site that feedback was left?

Thanks,
Dan

When I click a thread it will take me to the last post or somewhere in the middle, is there a way to start a thread at the first post? is there a setting for this I'm missing?

If one clicks on "New Posts" in the header bar, another option comes up as "New Profile Posts". If I am not mistaken, this brings up communications between 2 members that was once private in the old Private Message page. Don't you believe this eavesdropping could be problematic?

A profile post is not private and not the same as a private message. The old forum did not have this feature. If you want a private conversation, then start one ("Send PM").
