I've looked, thought I'd get a Tikka or Howa, but neither make a 204 varmint barrel rifle? Who does
Ruger makes a nice one. Pretty sure you can get the Savage 12FV in .204 as well. It might be a Cabelas exclusive though.
Cooper Firearms of Montana
You may find a Tikka 204 in Canada, as they're imported there, but not here.
Other 204 makers: Ruger, Cooper, Remington, CZ, Savage, Thompson....there's lots of others, you just have to poke about and do your homework.
I’ll second on the Cooper
I used to have a CZ 527 Varmint model 204 and it shot extremely well. For the money, the CZ's are hard to beat.
For the money spent the CZ hands down unless you have about 3 grand buy a Cooper
Jim Borden would make you a real nice one..
A pd shooting buddy picked up one of the Cabelas specials. Put a Vortex diamond back on it, factory Fiocchi 32 gr vmax, just pounded the pd out to 300 yards. I'm sure he could have shot them much further, but he would switch to his 22-250 for longer shots.
Why switch, that 204r is not even breathing hard out to 400 plus.
Or $1100 and pick a lightly used Phoenix like I did.
have this guy build you a 204 ar15, scary how accurate his ar15 builds are
Wow great deal considering that they start at 2795.
As my user name suggests I really like my Kimber Varmint in .204. It shoots great, carries great, looks great. I got one of the first to come out of the factory when they started making .204 Ruger, so I can't speak to the latest models, but mine is a perfect walking varminter.
I bought a Remington 700 sps varmint, threw away the stock. Dropped it into a HS take off and i have a great p-dog rifle! It shoots the 39grn blitzkings really well.
I found a couple used X-R100s in 204.Really nice rifles as is,any small bolt face donor of the right action length would work well. Why not build one with an 11 twist and nice barrel/reamer.The Sako Varmint in 204 would be nice if you don’t want to build one.Of course as others have said the Coopers are so sweet, but getting spendy, let Greg Tannel work on an old Rem 700,still cheaper than a full blown custom.
There are a limited number of Blaser R8 sporter and semi-weight barrels available in 204Ruger from EuroOptic.
Yes, the R8 is quite nice.. Add a Schmidt Bender 5-25x56 scope... A great rig... Replaceable barrels are an added feature. Euro0ptic has those too
These have nice, heavy 26" barrels with 1:12 twist and great stocks. Mine from the factory shot a lot of half-MOA 5-shot groups at 100 with 32-gr. VMax. It shot the 39-gr. VMax fine, too, the small amount I shot them.
