Some Note Worthy Groups

Took the family to the South Eastern Regionals. The camper was referred to as the Ark! The Wife, the boy, two dogs and a parrot all piled in. Not a great match for me shooting wise but we had a great time.

Here are a few Pics of some noteworthy groups.

This is a 10 shot group at 100 yards that measured .097 shot by Don Hardeman. It was turned in for a potential world record. His 100 yard aggregate of 1764 was also submitted for potential world record (5 targets 10 shots).

My son Heath gets the heartbreak award. This is a 5 shot 200 yard target measuring 341. These are shot on the new NBRSA targets and bullets holes are smaller on this paper. I measured the lone bullet hole at .205. I conservatively subtracted that from the group of 4. As big as I can make it is an .035! If that shot would have gone in he'd have been hooked forever!

Last but not least I shot the Grinch (6.5 Grendel with a blown out 40 degree shoulder and necked down to 6MM) with 80 gr Dominators in Heavy Varmint class! Shot a 2544 agg at 100 and a 2344 at 200. This was my first time tuning the gun. I had a couple of dream killer groups in each agg. But for the most part it shot great. It let 3 PPCs escape in the grand coming in 4th. However it did take small group honors at 200 yards with a 231!

I'm planning on shooting the Grinch at the 600 yard Nationals next week!

80gr Dominators? Were you using a 12 Twist? Just curious. WD

WOW,,,,that 4 in 1 out at 200 is a DANDY !!!!.....what powder are you using,,,(I guess Rx-15),,,????.Roger
Roger,

Heath and I were both shooting 133! However, I'm getting ready to take the Grinch with an 8 twist barrel to the 600 yard Nationals. I shot it yesterday with Varget and RL15. The two powders shot virtually the same Aggs, but I shot the varget in light conditions and the RL 15 when the wind and mirage had picked up!

Tell Heath to hang in there, thats raw talent in the makng, just a matter of time.

I want a Grinch reamer!!!
Sounds like something I`d love to shoot...

awesome lookin 200 yard shootin,,
the 6MMAR40 is the Grendel necked down and blowed out to 40*,,I have thought about tryin it in my PPC bolt face as it is supposed to have the same case capacity as the 6BR and shoot the 105s in the 2850 range with 30ish grs of IMR8208XBR,,

Sounds like the same thing.
I shot these at 500 yards. Trying to tune it. There was a fair amount of wind and bad mirage.

Who made that reamer??

WD,

Yes I was using a 12 twist bartlien. The thing shoots like a laser.

Bart,

Just out of curiosity, was the barrel a 5R or a straight 4-groove?

After reading the first few posts, I remembered that I had a barrel I made and chambered for the 6mmAR which is a 30 degree shoulder on the Grendel case. I pulled my notes to help me remember the loads I was testing and came up with some of the data for Re-17 and the 105 gr. VLDs. Most of the tests hovered around 2900 fps at very reasonable pressure as far as I could tell.

I was wondering if maybe this is one of those 1/2 node excursions that is being discussed on the Reloading forum? The accuracy was apparently decent since I don't recall it being less than competitive. I may have to put it back together and see what the newer Hybrids can do.

That was a 4 groove!
