    Now understand, I'm all about accuracy and modern bench guns, but there is something about beautiful walnut when the light makes the grain just pop! For others it may be the way a 100 year old lever action showing its age tells a story and you wonder what it would say if it could talk. Still others are into some of the amazing handgun or tactical offerings we have available these days. I will start it off with a Claro Walnut stocked Contender carbine. I hand rubbed many coats of linseed oil to get the look I wanted. Show me what YOU like.

    I found this on the internet a few months ago and saved the picture. Someday I'm going to find a piece of wood like this.

    IMG_3828.PNG About as much grain as in a piece of old weathered Montana fence post but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!

    Besides exhibition grade walnut, I happen to like the variations available in spalted maple for rifle stocks.

    Call Doan Trevor or Master Class Stocks or Joel Russo for a selection of some of the best wood from the very top of the stockmakers.

    I would never show off my best piece of “hand rubbed” wood to another man...

    Some really nice furniture but give me a good slab of fiberglass, kevlar, laminate or carbon fiber any day. :D:p

    tiger stripe.jpg Josh, You need to make a run to Hearne's with me. They have wood that will make this stuff look tame. Googled this one up, tiger stripe maple.

    :mad:Booo!:mad::confused::rolleyes: I used to like you!:eek::D
    Dale: The last time I went to Hearnes, it cost me over $700. I had my hands on some gorgeous pieces. I decided to get some more experience before I use a "great piece". I'm still tweaking the design.

    I may like Walnut but fiberglass definitely has it's purpose. 12 and 17 lb. 1000 yard rigs. 12 and 17 lb. guns.jpg
