I have an "old" 12 twist that I don't shoot much any more (2500 + rounds). I seem to remember that it had a really long throat to the point that I couldn't even approach the lands with 74-75 grain bullets.

They are no-turn chambers. I can place 80-108 grain bullets anywhere from jam 20 to jump 50 easily with 1:8 barrels.
With 1:12 barrels i can put 60's into the lands.

My 12 twist must have had a 1-8 reamer used in it, because a Fowler 80 grain will come out of the case before you touch the lands.

I would call Savage. Even the 1:8 twist can seat 80's at jam.

You should have no problem with it throat should be just fine for 105 to 108 in that single shot, if it had a mag maybe not
