I seen that also and thank u also. On my latest burn rate chart it lists 26 between h-1000 and retumbo but in my limited experience with 26 it seems to give impressive velocities and I can hit 3000 pretty easy with h-1000 so was just simply gonna try it to see what happens. Never know till ya try right.Ammo Guide lists loads for Reloder 17, 19 and 22, nothing for 26. Alliant's website states it falls in between 22 and 33 and for use in magnum cartridges. My guess is it's too slow.
I've been using Hybrid 100V with 130s with good accuracy and am just loading up some 140s with the same powder. Be interesting to see how you do with the 26.I seen that also and thank u also. Let me know your results and I will let you know mine when I get to test.I've been using Hybrid 100V with 130s with good accuracy and am just loading up some 140s with the same powder. Be interesting to see how you do with the 26.
Roger that.Let me know your results and I will let you know mine when I get to test.
Hey thanks for the info. That does interest me and now that you told me that I'm gonna have to try it. What do you get for your sd with your load. Not sure how much Reloder 26 you have to work with, but if you are unhappy with the results I have had very good results from Reloder 23, using the Berger 140 VLD Hunters.
I get 3000 fps from a 24" Bartlein using 53.0gr of Reloder 23, Wolf Primers, Lapua Brass.

Here are my load test results. All of the normal rules and warnings apply.
6.5x284 Barnard B1 with 32" Bartlein 5C 1:8", Palma Profile, with ~500 rounds previously fired
77° F 23-Oct-2016, Distance = 1000 yards @ Strategic Edge, Chapel Hill, TN
Berger 140 Hybrid (pointed), .020" Jump, Lapua Brass, Wolf LR Primer
Alliant RL-26
0.0025" neck tension
Magnetospeed Chronograph
5 shots for velocity testing fired separately from the 5 shots for group
Single variable was powder weight:
[Powder weight, Average Velocity, SD, Max, Min, ES, Group at 1000 yards (inches), MOA]
54.5 gr, avg 3010 fps, SD=8.9, Max=3019, Min=2995, ES=24, 7.25 in, 0.67 MOA
55.0 gr, avg 3039 fps, SD=8.8, Max=3050, Min=3026, ES=24, 8.63 in, 0.80 MOA
55.5 gr, avg 3057 fps, SD=11.5, Max=3073, Min=3041, ES=32, 4.75 in, 0.43 MOA
55.8 gr, avg 3104 fps, SD=7.1, Max=3111, Min=3094, ES=17, (this was on a different day, very windy, so no testing for groups)
I am probably going to go with the 55.8 grain load, but will do more testing when it warms up and it's a calm wind day.
I started moving up from Norma mrp with 140 Bergers. Rl26 was just amazing. Thanks for all the replies guys. Much appreciated. I will let everybody know what my results are when I get some testing done. I'm hopeful for good accuracy and velocity.
