Reloading scale help? Which one?

Hi, I know there a lot of opinions on this. But I am looking for a good reliable scale for reloading. I know the A&D fx is the one everyone is in love with, But at the moment. I don’t want to spend 500. So I was looking at the A&D EJ-200. It measures to .01 Is that enough?

It seems a lot of the precision scales have a lot of positive reviews and a lot negative ones. So I’m kind of lost.

Dan - not at any moment did I want to pay 500 for a scale. This is what I bought right or wrong- when a shot does NOT go where the other 4 went, I no longer wonder if it was charge related. I believe I have pretty much bought a fool-proof system of consistent powder delivery. Is the fx perfect? No but it’s head and shoulders better than the system I had before and better than me.
Good luck on your choice.
Gerald

what do you need a precision scale for?

I’m getting into reloading. Not for bench rest, but I do like the precision end of things. I figured if I could not afford the A&D fx, I would at least get an A&D if they have a good reputation. Even if is a cheaper one

hard for me to recommend a $1000 powder measuring system when i have no idea of the rifle you are loading for, your expections and its intended use

you would probably be just fine with a gempro 250, lee scoops and a little dandy trickler.

and then if your journey into precision shooting took you to Adam's Autotrickler System you would appreciate it that much more.

Buy yourself an old Ohaus 10-10 and use it for a while. It's not hi tech but it works.

how much is your time worth ?
without magnetic dampening you will be wasting time.
waiting for a scale to finish can make reloading very tiresome.
buy a simple beam scale, and save till you can afford the correct tool for the job.

do you need to do the dampening with the rcbs chargemaster?

Dan,
I would suggest that you start with an RCBS Charge Master. That will get you +/- 0.2 grain after you've learned to reload well enough to fully utilize that, then you can decide if you want to go to the next level. The money spent on the charge master won't be wasted because you'll still be using for your initial throws.

Maybe you won't get as obsessive as some of us have. Maybe you'll decide to put the money into psychiatric counseling and kick the habit. :)

judging by the photo, you may need to go to scale AA

I use a Scott Parker tuned old lymen beam scale with trickler. Got away from electronic scales and happy. Use a charge master for non competitive reloading

What cell phone?
The one that has to be replaced every 2 years?
The cell phone that everyone can hack?
The cell phone that face book and google follow around?
The cell phone that is either dead or connected to the charger all the time?
The cell phone that everyone uses to track your activities?
The cell phone that you BS on continually while driving like some chatty Kathy?
The cell phone you were using when you Tboned another car?
No sweat I do not use a POS phone to weigh powder..
I bet you don't either.
Just remember powder grains vary dimensionally and the surface area of each charge can affect the burn rate even when the weight is exactly the same.
Welcome to the real world.

Yeah, while you're at it throw away your cell phone and go back to an analog land line. ;)

if youre just getting into reloading why dont you start with a good beam scale like a lyman M-5.. then after you get involved more you can decide which direction you want to go from there. you would always have the beam scale for a backup. if the cheaper Aand D would work shooters would be using it instead of the fx120, so why waste your money on it
