Ok i got a protector rear bag with cordura ears. Im wondering how firm the ears should be? Im shooting a remington 40x heavy barrel with the original stock , should the stock be down on the stitches? As it is its sitting up in the ears.

how do i go about taking some sand out of the ears without losing to much or have it poor out.

    Thanks

I shoot a 64MPR off a protektor. It sits in the ears and I think that's good for our style stocks.

I shoot a 64MPR off a protektor bag as well. I have approximately the diameter of a #2 pencil between the stitches and the bottom of the stock. I also use a used dryer sheet on top of the leather ears on my bag.

the stitches are too hard and will cause vertical. any spacing above that is fine when you pack it down

How hard should the ears be? Im assuming if the ears are too hard it would also cause vertical ?

yes it will. after you pack the butt down into it you should be able to lift it up and see a perfect imprint. and you should be able to push the sand in with your thumb 1/2' or so.

I took a little out of my bag ears today. It didn't take much to make a difference. the rifle sits down in the ears better and you can just get a pencil in between the stitches and the stock. The ears are not hard as a rock anymore either. Will have to wait and see if the rifle tracks better or not.

    Thanks
