Really??

There was a guy from New Zealand that was doing one and posted about it, here. Maybe do a search to find it.

I have 3D printed a couple lowers for an AR-15. Survived full power .223 loads. This is with just regular PLA. not metal sintering.

Yeah, that's really sensationalized. 3D printers aren't some panacea. They have very real limitations that make all the difference between creating something that will fire bullets in a general direction for a couple shots, and a dependable, accurate and durable firearm.

This is more in the wheelhouse of a 3D printer (even the metal sintering kind). It doesn't have to hold tight tolerances (+/- 5 thou), and it only has to operate under relatively small forces. Trying to use a printed upper or barrel would be dangerous.

A brief quote:

”Anyone with access to a metal 3D printer can make guns functionally and aesthetically indistinguishable from any gun that can be bought in a store. Such metal printers are available for less than $2,000.”

Anyone know of some enterprising individual who’s done this? And lived thru actually firing what they’ve rendered?
There was a guy here who 3D printed the receiver for a 22LR rifle.
