This storm is going to effect the total state
South to North. Larry
You might want to get out of there Larry.
Good idea we only have 5 roads north . To out run the storm we would need to go to Atlanta . All the roads are grid locked .
My wife and I are in PA where I work. She's been pacing the floor all evening calling to check on friends and family back home. Our house and many family members are in Central Florida but we have friends as far south as Miami and The Keys.
Most folks don't understand but by the time it's a sure thing, there's no getting out of the way. You'll end up out of gas setting on the highway when it hits.
75 North is stoped below Tampa
Will be praying for you folks.
I'm relieved that my Daughters, and their/my Families all were able to get out safely. They said it was a chore...
My very best wishes to everyone's homes, and those that chose not to evacuate.
Wish you the best.
Thanks I don't live where the storm is predicted to go . The news said it is headed the center will go over 10 Million people .
All I can say is Good Luck to our members in Florida. My brother lived through Andrew in '92 and you can still see the wreckage 25 years later. Here's hoping the steering currents push this offshore.
Best Wishes for all Florida residents, those who have left and those who didn't for what ever reason. Prayers for all.
Getting on the road is a bad idea all around. You will end up out of gas and riding out the storm in your vehicle.
Same thing happened here with Ike in 2008.
Prayers are with you.
We are in the Lake O area and will be leaving in a couple hrs, good luck to all our famlies and friends. Stay safe. E
Thanks for the well wishes from everyone! I'm in western Broward County (Coral Springs) and decided to stay around. I was in southern Miami 25 years ago during hurricane Andrew, so I know the drill when dealing with strong hurricanes - This one looks stronger.
With all that in mind, I'm just bummed they closed Port Malaber, and therefore canceled Saturday's monthly F-Class Midrange Practice Match!
Spoken like a real shooter!
Good luck to all, Be Safe!
Check the rods before back road will be the best. But not many go north 19 would be my choice 75 is almost stop . Be safe . Larry
Thanks everyone for thoughts and prayers. Storm shutters up today and house is stocked up. Last report has the eye moving up lake Okeechobee as a Cat. 4.
If I lived there, I'd be long gone by now. I know some people in the Ft Myers area that said that they'll be ok because they have a generator. Hope it floats. No un-reinforce building will stand 180-200 mph wind at the surface. Good luck! Time to be on the road if you are leaving. Wait until the last minute and you'll endure the hurricane sitting in your vehicle in a massive traffic jam.
Now the only place you is that you have to out run the storm . Larry
