I have over the last 25+ years I've built a good many loading benches without ever finding the "perfect" versatile setup. Well, this time, I think I have found a way to add a great deal of versatility. I purchased several old cabinets from the local county road and bridge and began by sandblasting them and gave them a fresh coat of paint. Next, I used 1 bottom layer of 3/4" plywood and added another 3/4" inch oak plywood top and mixed in some 1x6x3/4" and 1x4x3/4" boards. I mounted the top and thought maybe I would do something different with mounting my presses, measure and so on. I routed out two 3/4" wide slots to install some t-track. I then acquired some aluminum Z bar for my mounts, cut it to the lenghts I needed and milled some mounting slots in it. I think I finally found the solution to my many years of bench woes. The bolts that mount to the t-track are just standard 3/8" dia and the heads fit great into the track and the knobs work very well and hold plenty good. I am waiting on another section of t-track and it'll be finished and I am certain plenty strong for the uses intended. Just thought I'd share for any others that might find themselves wanting something more friendly.
