Here is mine. Smack in the middle of the Jefferson National Forest, Va. Off grid, on top, the mountain view is looking out the front porch. Deer, bear, coyotes, bobcats, turkeys and a few elk. I did it all myself with the exception of drilling the well and installing the septic system. Had some buddies help me manhandle the trusses up too. Cabin shot.JPG Short hills.jpg

I don't have photos, however, the most beautiful area I used to frequent when I lived in New York State was "The Finger Lakes Region"! The most beautiful deep, cool / cold lakes you can imagine set in the most gorgeous idyllic setting you can imagine. I wish I had pics, those "pics" are logged away in my memory!

Oh yeah... spent a lot of time camping in that area... especially on race weekends at Watkins Glen International!

OK, I'll bite. Eastern Oregon desert country. This particular creek is full of rainbows, rattlers, quail, cats, coyotes, mule deer and memories. Pardon me if I don't mention the name. jd

I work at Red Dog Mine. My job is to measure it to the millimeter, mark it with chalk, and then blow it up. 3 weeks on and 1 week off.

Thank you for the nice comment sir!!! It is really just a little two bedroom house and it's my hunting cabin. Well, at least for now...I did the septic big enough for four bedrooms if I ever want to expand a little and move there.
Not too likely though...the mistress of finance is scared of the bears.

What area is that around? We have a lot of different types of ground to hunt here but not much for swamps unfortunately

The North East tip of NY /Canada border in the Saint Lawrence river valley ,flat lowlands with very large swamps . Great hunting , deer have quality feed with all the farmer's crops and good cover in the wetlands .

Edit: To put it in perspective, this is my driveway this morning...the last 1000 feet are declared "Wetlands " . It's smoother than usual ,corn just came off the back fields and the rigs rolled it pretty well.

Great Dismal Swamp. Straddling the Virginia/North Carolina border

One most wonderful places on Earth. You can spend days walking, canoeing or even short drives to the lake.

There is also a swamp area in the Upper Peninsula which we referred to as the Great Dismal Swamp. It could be very treacherous if you weren't prepared and exercised caution. We usually hunted in pairs... I hunted deer up there for 12 years and never got tired of just sitting down in the snow listening and watching the river otters sliding down a hill into a pool of water where they had broken the ice. Deer would bed down on the dry patches thick with briars and undergrowth but always alert to the clumsy hunters staggering through their safe zone. We hunted one buck in particular for 3 years until he tried to sneak past my buddy. That year he had mustered enough nutrients to create a beautiful 12-point rack. Not a record but big enough for us!
