Congrats to Lynn Dragoman, a long-time member of this Forum. He put it all together in difficult conditions to win the 1000-yard match held last weekend in Sacramento. This was scheduled as the official 2010 NBRSA 1000-yard nationals. However, 6 matchs (for LG an HG each) were not able to be conducted. Results were determined based on match results fired on Friday and Saturday. Some shooters wanted the match resumed on Monday. Other shooters voted to end it. There is now some controversy as to whether we actually have a 2010 NBRSA National Champion. But Lynn did top the field based on the results from Friday and Saturday. Here is Jim O'Connell's report:

The Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters, Inc. hosted the 2010 NBRSA 1000 Yard National Championship at the Folsom Shooting Club (Sacramento California). It looked like it was going to be a year for breaking numerous records. The first Light Gun Target was a 2.072 posted by Bruce Bangeman (that was the best 1000 yard group that I have ever seen). For the most part the wind was pretty manageable and most of the shooters managed to stay in the center of the target. Then the weather turned sour. By Sunday we were having light rain and strong winds. The target uprights looked like they were ready to snap and the wet targets would rip off in the wind. We made it though the first relay, but as conditions grew worse it was necessary to terminate the match and determine winners based on the Targets fired on Friday and Saturday. The Match Winner was Lynn Dragoman Jr.with a score of 19. Lynn also won Two Gun Score 550-7X and Light Gun Group 5.340. Don Niellson won Two Gun Group 7.310 and Heavy Gun Score 372-7X. Ken Schroeder won Light Gun Score 192-5X and Charles Greer won Heavy Gun Group 6.997. Check out the attachment for all of the 2010 results.

As it turned out there were no new Records set but the hot dogs were good and the BBQ was excellent. A good time was had by all. A special thanks to all the sponsors who make the sport what it is today. The Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters appreciate you support and look forward to hosting many more Nationals in the future.

Re: Forum Member Lynn Wins NBRSA 1000-yard Nationals

From the NBRSA site:

The National Champion shall be determined by
assigning point values based on the competitor’s
placing in the 4 “6-Target” Aggregates, i.e.: 1 point for
first, 2 points for second, etc. The 4 “6-Target”
Aggregates are as follows: Light Gun Score, Heavy
Gun Score, Light Gun Group, and Heavy Gun Group.
The lowest total score will be the National Champion.
Any tie will be broken by the competitors placing in the
“12-Target Group Aggregate. (Effective as of 1/1/08).

Lynn, I'm surprise with a Regional Director for NBRSA Lou Murdica didn't know the rules since he was there. Pretty weak membership that let one man
get away with stuff from what I read on your post on the BR site.

'TOOK A VOTE'????? What kind of crap is that?? That's why we have rules! It must have stated some where in the rules 'to take a vote'. WOW!
AWESOME shooting Lynn. Congratulations. Hope you get to enjoy the win.
Barry

Congratulations Lynn

I was really impressed the way your rifles were shooting when we chronograph them on Thursday.

The match should have been completed on Monday.

Noblesse oblige - (i.e. one must act in a fashion that conforms to one's position, and with the reputation that one has earned). If you are a winner then be one.
