Every once in while you find something amazing on the world wide web. I wanted to turn a comparison chart that Bryan Litz had displayed as a table into a speadsheet. Maths was never a favorite subject of mine so I started a search for formulas I could use in Excel.
I found an incredible site called BfX http://www.bfxyz.nl/ its dedicated to ballistic calculations for just about every imaginable application. A Dutch theoretical physicist named Robert Meijer has made available for download a complete set of ballistic functions he calls BfX(). These functions are made available (free) as an add-on for Excel and he has even written a setup/install program.
If you always wanted to create a custom ballistic spreadsheet to compare, analyze or solve a problem then your prayers have been answered. I put up an article on using it and my caliber/projectile comparison spreadsheet is here if your interested: http://www.safclass.com.au/CompareCalibres.html
I dont know for how long this website of Dr. Robert Meijer has remained an unknown secret. Now I'm hoping to change that by letting shooters know these functions exist and that ballistic spreadsheets can be written without needing any knowledge of the math behind it!
