Before and After Bore Cleaning

So this was my Kreiger 7.7 223 space gun barrel. It has about 4000 rounds through it. I had never really cleaned the barrel. So, before the "before" video I had already bronze brushed it about 50 strokes with deep penetrating oil. Lots of black stuff came out. Then I took the before video

Then I took this video after cleaning using my method.

4,000 rounds.... never cleaned it ???!???!?!!

Well I mean I never had a bore scope to check it to see if it was really cleaned.

Ok I don't try to exaggerate my shooting but here is the honest truth. I cleaned the barrel and took it to the range. It is an AR15 and I was shooting as Tubb taught me from his bipod and squeeze bag. HORRIBLE WINDS. I put my pinwheel in front of the target and shot 100 rounds of AR COMP and 52 SMK loads made from my progressive.

There were a lot of tiny groups.20191124_134739.jpg

How is it you are able to polish out fire cracking?

It wasn't fire cracking.

That black stuff is actually on top of the steel. It appears to be carbon layered with copper that basically seems to make that alligator skin that is actually like a crackle paint job.

I've done several barrels this year that looked like this. And once cleaned the steel underneath looked really good.

I gotta try Ar comp.
My barrels look worse after 1k rounds of varget/r15/4895.
Thanks for sharing that.

Get a Teslong. (Easier to record video as well)

I used to use Wipeout (incl Accelerator). I then ran Boretech Carbon remover through it and it was like I hadn't cleaned it before. I've now switched to Boretech copper and carbon remover.

I have several bottles of the various Wipeout products.

My results are as you stated. Follow any product with Boretech Eliminator and it's like you never cleaned.

I think you will find that those powders have the highest heat values in the chart.

I don't know the Bofors TZ powers heat numbers (maybe someone with Quickload can say) but R16 and AR COMP seem to be lower heat.

It's a relief to find out that I'm not the one who had unsatisfactory results with the wipe out, wipe out accelerator. I just started using the Bore Tech Eliminator and I was surprised at how black the first few patches come out.
